These books were beyond awesome.  They have action and adventure, they are fall out of your chair funny.

It is fiction, so having a 13 year old and 15 year old girl as your main kick ass characters makes you have to suspend belief, but it's fiction, that's what it's for.

The number of one liners from the book is huge and Faith is an awesome character.

Get the first book, give it a test, see how you like it.

Under A Graveyard Sky

You won't be disappointed if you like action, zombies or apocalypse books.

I liked his solution to cure massive zombie infestation. But dang, the cleanup!

Funny quote from 1 or 2 books ago:
Shewolf: "I'll be in my bunk."
Redshirt 1 to Redshirt 2: "Did she just say what I..."
Shewolf: "Loading magazines, you perverts!"

The background on this quote is that Shewolf was almost out of 12 gauge for her beloved Saiga. However, she was advised of the location of pallets and pallets of 12-gauge 00-buck on a ship that was cleared, which lead to the above.

Short story anthologies based in the same universe are scheduled. It'll be interesting to see how other authors tackle it.

I didn't really dig the super sexual overtones for the 15 and 13 year olds in it, call me a prude. Otherwise an excellent series from what I have read so far.

He's been posting snippets of his collaborative work with Larry Correia, over on Facebook. Might be 3 books, now?
Either way - it's entertaining!

Finished reading the last of the four third Black Tide series book the other night. Enjoyed the Faith character. Lots of funny dialog between the characters. The jumping around introducing new characters was a bit distracting though. Got the feeling that they cut large portions of some characters which made their intro then their lack of development later on a bit distracting to the overall flow of the storyline.

Does it get better after book 1? The 13 year old super Rambo was a little far fetched, even for a zombie book....

If you don't like the 13 year old Rambo character in book one then you probably may not like other books since Faith is a central character throughout all the books. Yes its a bit unrealistic but then again its a zombie book so unrealistic is to be expected.

Great premises for a zombie book but Series sucked. Made it till the 3rd book hoping it would get better but no dice. If it wasn't the kiddie porn, the 20 pages of some some under age girl got knocked up without sex, all the military jargon no one can follow, the repeating all the navy talk,  the hero's are 13 &15 yr old female killing machines, the wooden all characters sound the same bull it would still be a crap book. Not my thing. I will never understand how ringo can pay his bills with his wrighting. I base this after reading about 7 of his books. Most of which I couldn't finish. Thank god for the library or I'd feel jipped

Well, different strokes ect.

There really wasn't anything that I would call kiddie porn in the zombie books, the Kildar stuff, maybe. The two teens in the life raft thing really wasnt so much about her being pregnant and more about societal reactions to the assumption that they had had intercourse.

The jargon? I guess who have to have the background to appreciate it, for me the jargon and the background of who Ringo is makes his books all the more entertaining. Everything he talks about military related comes across as incredibly accurate.

Your other issues I cant address as I dont understand apparently.

Yeah his books are different strokes for different folks. I don't remember the kiddie porn but the whole woman getting pregnant, sometimes through consent other times through rape, had a point in the books. It helped or caused the whole; "what happens in the cabin stays in the cabin" (or something like that). His constant use of military jargon even to non military folk isn't a big deal after one reads not only a number of his books but books by other authors who write similar story lines. Lets face it, many of the people Wolf Squadron rescued and took in were military or ex military, not to mention the clearing and liberating of the Iwo, so the use of such military jargon shouldn't be a surprise or shock. The use of nautical talk or navy talk is a "well duh" thing since they spent much of the series either on water or making landings and clearing zones over the beach/costal areas. While I did LOL at the use of 13 and 15 year old girls as the driving zombie ass kicking characters it was a nice refreshing twist from the usual zombie books with ex military or ex police male characters being the zombie kicking badass. Come on the whole sequence with the M-1 tank and its paint job was LOL. A 13 year old tank commander? It lead an air to the absurdity of dealing with zombies. Which brings up the issues that why are people finding 13 and 15 year old zombie ass kickers difficult to fathom when talking about a "zombie apocalypse". Its freaking zombies so anything and everything is absurd and outlandish. The kids names and actions were used to make a point and had historical significance. I also LOL at Ringo's treatment of liberal/progressives during the zombie apocalypse, especially near/at the end of the fourth book when they take Washington.

His Kildar series will be a hard read at times for those who didn't like the women abused or sexual overtones from the zombie series. Only two books into the Kildar series and its cringe worthy at times.

At LibertyCon this past weekend, during the Black Tide Rising panel, it was announced that Michael Massa, author of "The Battle of the Berts" in the first anthology and former Navy SEAL officer, will be writing the story of what happens with Uncle Tom Smith (actually, Toni Weisskopf, the head of Baen Books, showed up late to the panel with the contract for Mike and John to sign on stage during the panel!).  There will also be at least one more anthology, a book with Sarah Hoyt, more main line books by John, and even possibly opening the universe up to coauthors like Eric Flint did with the 1632 universe.

I look forward to more books in the universe.

MHI: Grunge will be on the shelves soon, I already have a hardback copy (from Ringo's author copies) signed by both John and Larry.  "Street date" is August 2nd, I believe.   MHI: Sinners is due December 6th, don't think MHI: Saints is on Amazon yet, but it's mostly written and should be out probably early second quarter of 2017.

focus groups was just my term for it...occasionally ringo crowdsources names for extras, continuity from his own books , or tech info from his facebook friends. it's also where he drops the snippets.  correia will drop little bits of awesomeness once in a while too, but not as often. just send him a friend request on fb
