WW II memoirs of panzer-jager Hans Roth.  Roth brought his journals home whenever he had leave.  It ends in 1943 and he disappeared in 1944.  The fighting was brutal and the front line soldiers did know of the SS Einsatzgruppen (they talked).  Read this book and think twice before invading Russia.

Great book. I read it a couple years ago. One of the best first person accounts.
