Anyone read  Walter M. Miller A Canticle for Leibowitz? It's more post-apocalyptic but the SHTF in the past.

This.

My wife and I had been reading it aloud at bed time. We finished the book on 9/10/00.

She called me with quite a bit of concern the next morning.

It is very, very good. I would definitely recommend and one of the best, and i've read most of what is out there that isnt self-published and a lot that is. Not quite on par with the iconic alas babylon, but shares many of the same themes, and not too far behind.
