Links to Amazon Canada? Which links (on the previous page) go to Amazon Canada?

I have noticed that the following is being added somehow to the web links when I view the page:
?tag=vglnk-c102-20
I know for a fact that code was not on the book link I posted yesterday.

Pretty sure Amazon adds a ref code to links you send. You've got to go in and scrub when you repost the addy. They use it to track purchases. A single ref code counts as a single sale for ratings purposes, regardless of how many books are purchased through that code.

Generally I do scrub the addy so it is just the link to the book not the extra stuff. For example the book I posted yesterday:
h t t p s://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Z9R1W9W

It's got the extra code added to it by the board code:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Z9R1W9W?tag=vglnk-c102-20

Edit to add: The extra code being added by the ARFCOM website appears to be happening to other poster's code too as evidenced by the top post one page back:

In case one misses the GD thread

Glory Boy

Caleb Mitchell gave up everything to protect his home. Shunned by friends and family for abandoning the pacifist beliefs of their religion, abandoned by the love of his life, he left his homeworld of Canaan to go to the Commonwealth Military Academy on Earth and train to fight in the looming war against the implacable alien threat of the Tahni Imperium. When a training mission with a crew of cadets winds up caught in the middle of one of the worst battles of the war, Cal and his fellow students are officially declared dead.
That's when their war really begins. Recruited for a top-secret special operations unit, Cal and his friends undergo experimental and dangerous physical augmentation that turns them into supersoldiers, designed to take the fight behind enemy lines and put the fear of God into an alien society who thinks their Emperor is God personified.
Now Caleb is asked to sacrifice his very humanity to protect his people. But when Canaan itself is threatened by the Tahni, will he throw away his career and risk everything to save the people who turned their backs on him?

Something wacky is definitely happening. If I mouse over the link in my post it shows amazon.com, yet in your quoted post it shows amazon.ca.

Here is the link in my post (indicated by red arrow) when I mouse over, note how it is amazon.com:

Here is the link in your post (indicated by red arrow) when I mouse over, note how it is amazon.ca:

Here is what my post (above) looks like in the ARFCOM editor, note how it is amazon.com, sans the extra ?tag=vglnk-c102-20 being added somehow:

Another way to test is to click on the GD link in my post (or the link in the quoted portion in your post) and see if RikWriter post link to his book also goes to the Canadian version of Amazon.

Here is the link to that book done a few different ways to see if it changes anything:

With a "/" added (h t t p s://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6DXM8C/): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6DXM8C?tag=vglnk-c102-20
(Looks like the ARFCOM board code is changing the URL by dropping the "/" and adding the "?tag=vglnk-c102-20" to the amazon.com URL.)

Using the Amazon Share URL: http://a.co/4AFaAEF
(Looks like the ARFCOM board code doesn't change that link.)

And a link to the Amazon Echo (h t t p s://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DFKC2SO/): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DFKC2SO?tag=vglnk-c102-20
(Where once again the board code is dropping the "/" and adding the "?tag=vglnk-c102-20" code.)

Edit to add: I'm using the Firefox on a Win 10 PC.

Whisked across the galaxy, Cal is thrown into a team of some of the sector's most notorious villains and scumbags. Their mission should be simple enough, but as one screw-up leads to another, they find themselves in a frantic battle to save an entire alien civilization - and its god - from total annihilation.

Featuring epic space battles, alien gangsters, and several thousand flying Tobey Maguires, Space Team is the first book in the internationally bestselling series by award-winning author, Barry J. Hutchison, and is perfect for fans of Hitchhiker's Guide and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Edit to add: #69 Project Nemesis (A Kaiju Thriller) (Nemesis Saga Book 1)

Jon Hudson, lead investigator for the Department of Homeland Security’s Fusion Center-P, thinks his job is a joke. While other Fusion Centers focus on thwarting terrorist activity, Hudson’s division is tasked with handling paranormal threats to national security, of which there have been zero during his years at the DHS. When yet another Sasquatch sighting leads to a research facility disguised as an abandoned Nike missile site in the back woods of Maine, Hudson’s job becomes deadly serious.

Hudson and the local Sheriff, Ashley Collins, suddenly find themselves on the run from a ruthless ex-Special Forces security team, but the human threat is short-lived as something very much not-human destroys the facility and heads for civilization, leaving only a single clue behind—a name scrawled in blood: Nemesis. Working with his team at Fusion Center-P, Sheriff Collins and a surly helicopter pilot named Woodstock, Hudson pursues the creature known as Nemesis, attempts to uncover the corporate secrets behind its creation and accidental release and tries to comprehend why several clues lead to a murdered little girl named Maigo.

But as the body-count explodes, along with the monster’s size, it quickly becomes clear that nothing short of a full military response can slow Nemesis’s progress. Coordinating with every branch of the U.S. military, Hudson simultaneously searches for clues about Nemesis’s origins and motivations, and leads the counterattack that will hopefully stop the monster before it reaches Boston and its one million residents.

#10 REDUX: A Black Flagged Thriller (The Black Flagged Series Book 2)

REDUX: A Black Flagged Thriller (Book Two of the Black Flagged Series)

Two years after shocking Washington D.C. with a brutal betrayal, General Terrence Sanderson waits in the shadows for the right moment to demonstrate the grim necessity of his resurrected Black Flag program. His opportunity may arrive sooner than expected.

At the CIA, Karl Berg makes a disturbing discovery. Russian Federation intelligence services are quietly scouring Europe to find Anatoly Reznikov, a rogue Russian scientist at the top of every nation's WMD watch list.

Obsessed with reviving a bio-weapons program long banned by the Russian government, Reznikov has found partners willing to fund the project--with unimaginable consequences.

Berg goes "off the books," sending one of Sanderson's Black Flag teams to track down Reznikov. Led by Daniel Petrovich, the team races to stay one step ahead of a twisted conspiracy aimed at crippling the West.

In the end, nothing is what it seems in this gritty world of covert operatives and back room Washington agendas.

One Second After
New York Times best selling author William R. Forstchen now brings us a story which can be all too terrifyingly real...a story in which one man struggles to save his family and his small North Carolina town after America loses a war, in one second, a war that will send America back to the Dark Ages...A war based upon a weapon, an Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP). A weapon that may already be in the hands of our enemies.

Months before publication, One Second After has already been cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read, a book already being discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a truly realistic look at a weapon and its awesome power to destroy the entire United States, literally within one second. It is a weapon that the Wall Street Journal warns could shatter America. In the tradition of On the Beach, Fail Safe and Testament, this book, set in a typical American town, is a dire warning of what might be our future...and our end.

Like everything else these days, definitions are evolving and bars lowering.  What used to barely qualify as a novella, these days counts as a full blown novel.

I've seen 'novel's clock out a 28K words. That's short story territory.

This came up as a free Kindle download the other day. Every once in awhile a good vampire story or a good time travel story trips my trigger. Can't say I've ever run across a book with both before.

I didn't really expect much but it turned out that I really enjoyed the first volume of this 3 volume set so I thought some of you guys might appreciate it. It has good plot and good character development and even manages to create a universe where time travel and vampires are both plausible.

A professor and his grad assistant travel back to 1929 New York City by accident and encounter a vampire who has become a Kingpin of the underworld. Turns out that the reason the underworld managed to take over New York City at the time is because at least some of the gangsters were vampires and couldn't be killed. The professor and his grad assistant fall in love and then run across the vampire who takes a shine to the grad assistant and doesn't really care for the professor all that much.

It's still free right now. Don't know how long it'll stay free.
