Collapse (New America-Book One)

BOOK ONE in the NEW AMERICA series.

America is falling, ready to join the Roman Empire as a distant memory in the annals of history. The year is 2027. Tired and desperate, the American people are deep in the middle of The Second Great Depression. The Florida coastline is in ruins from the most powerful hurricane on record; a second just like it is bearing down on the state of Texas. For the first time in history, the Middle East has united as one and amassed the most formidable army the world has seen since the Third Reich. A hidden army of terrorists is on American soil. This is the story of three men: Howard Beck, the world’s richest man, also diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Richard Dupree, ex-Navy SEAL turned escaped convict. Maxwell Harris, a crippled, burned out Chief of Police of a small Texas town. At first they must fight for their own survival against impossible odds. Finally, the three men must band together to save their beloved country from collapse.

Zombie Day Care: Impact Series - Book 1 of 3

"He had dozed off, feeling safe and exhausted, in the middle of nowhere. He laid his head back just for a second, listening to the madness on the satellite radio. America has fallen! Russia has fallen! The Middle East has fallen! He fell asleep.
His eyes snapped open. A shuffle of dirt caught his ear. He wiped the drool from his mouth. The rearview mirror showed nothing. His heart raced. Something was out there. A flicker of movement caught his eye in the side view mirror. He jerked out of the way just as a hand clutched for his neck. He scrambled through the passenger side door and rolled outside."

The Facility is what the Washington D.C. officials call it. It is a day care for zombie children, tucked deep in the east coast hills. Is there a cure for the zombies? The children of the undead give them the best hope. There are those who think the zombie threat is harmless…and those that don’t. The World Humanitarian Society wants to protect the zombies…or do they? Friends, family and colleagues are set at odds, dealing with the deadly dilemma. What about the zombies? What rights do they have in all of this? Or are they just a means to another diabolical end?

Bugging Out (The Bugging Out Series Book 1)

It came without warning. A microscopic enemy that methodically turned the green earth grey. Decimating the food chain until only the prepared were left.

But preparation alone is not enough to shelter Eric Fletcher from the chaos to befall the world as governments fail their citizens. Seeking refuge at his remote property in the north of Montana while society devolves into starving anarchy, he finds himself facing not only the rigors of survival, but also the appearance of a self-proclaimed ruler promising to set his piece of the withered world right for those who follow. Those who don't will suffer the consequences of his sadistic retribution.

Finding another survivor near his refuge, Eric attempts to steer clear of the conflict brewing in nearby towns. But soon he and his new found partner in survival are targeted by the dictatorial leader, leaving them two options--run, or fight for what is right.

Ebola In Texas: A Survival Story
An emergency room doctor finds herself in the middle of an Ebola pandemic, as a failed vaccine causes the disease to spread. Dr. McCarthy makes a final stand against the virus in an overwhelmed emergency room in Dallas. Normal procedures have failed and desperate measures are in effect.
Eventually, Dr. McCarthy flees the city with a nurse from the hospital and her husband and son. They encounter more Ebola victims, find friends in unlikely places and end up in a gun battle against desperate people while traveling to East Texas. As society collapses around them, they face difficult choices that will determine who lives and who dies.
Action and adventure combined with real medical drama make this a thriller you won’t want to put down. Ebola isn’t the only virus threatening the world today, and this work of fiction explores preparations made by ordinary people when normal restraints are removed from society.

About the Author: Dr. Fitzgerald is a neurosurgeon who has specialized in trauma for many years. She unfortunately has found herself in the midst of a number of disasters, including the flooding of the entire Houston Medical Center in 2003, the fallout from Hurricanes' Katrina and Rita, the massive earthquake in Haiti in 2009, and finally on site though not directly involved in the first presentation of Ebola in the US in 2014. She lives near Dallas with her Malinois, who is actually named ER. This is her first work of fiction.

[I started reading it yesterday. The writing is much better than is typical for self published works, especially SP post apocalyptic works. Don't be put off by the single and highly suspicious 5-star review. The book (at least so far) is pretty good. This one is not part of the top 100 free list]

Haven't seen anything the last few days on the top 100 free list that interested me so this morning I went and poked around at Hundredzeros. I found a few things that might interest me.

Cobra
EARTH'S ONLY HOPE WAS THE COBRAS

The colony worlds Adirondack and Silvern fell to the Troft forces almost without a struggle. Outnumbered and on the defensive, Earth made a desperate decision. It would attack the aliens not from space, but on the ground—with forces the Trofts did not even suspect.

Thus were created the Cobras, a guerilla force whose weapons were surgically implanted, invisible to the unsuspecting eye, yet undeniably deadly. But power brings temptation, and not all the Cobras could be trusted to fight for Earth alone. Jonny Moreau would learn the uses—and abuses—of his special abilities and what it truly meant to be a Cobra.

At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management).

[Never real thrilled about super soldier books, but one never knows. This one comes from an established author at Baen so it may be a cut above the typical such book. I have yet to read it.]

Soft Target (Major Crimes Unit Book 1)
Nowhere is safe from evil...
When a quaint village in the United Kingdom is struck by a suicide bomber, no one sees it coming. Yet, this first attack is just the beginning of something far greater and much much worse. Only one person stands a hope of stopping the slaughter before it begins and that person is damaged ex-soldier, Sarah Stone. Sarah hates her country for what it did to her, and that's what makes it so hard when she is forced to save it. Being a heroine may not suit Sarah, but she's all we've got.

Descendant from the Roman Empire, they pervade every level of society, and are now in a race with our own government to retrieve an ancient artifact thought to have been lost forever.

Caught in the middle is archeology professor James Acton, relentlessly hunted by the elite Delta Force, under orders to stop at nothing to possess what he has found, and the Triarii, equally determined to prevent the discovery from falling into the wrong hands.

With his students and friends dying around him, Acton flees to find the one person who might be able to help him, but little does he know he may actually be racing directly into the hands of an organization he knows nothing about.

[I have read 3 of the 4 books in this set. The Jack Noble series is pretty good. Corp of Justice, about average.]

Into the Dark (Dark Universe Book 1)
Aden Garrett is fresh out of security academy and looking for a little excitement. A little more than walking security at local space station bars and a little less than the job that got him kicked out of the academy.

Meshelle and Janna are Vagnosian sisters that run a small transport and special operations ship, and they're looking to replace a fallen crew member.

Chance brings them together and puts them work for one of the mysterious Kesari merchants who's looking for some expendable assets for a special job. It's a perfect match, except the crew of the Uma, Janna's ship, doesn't agree to being disposed of when the job is done.

What follows is a game of cat and mouse through the galaxy with twists and turns at every solar system. Lost alien civilizations, six limbed insectoid warriors, plasma rifles, and more await.

[I have not read this one yet.]

"Cobra" is excellent.
It's the first book in a series, but is by far the best of them.

All wars end.
Too often military and civilian leaders fail to think about what happens after the war ends.

How do you send home soldiers that carry hidden inside their bodies an arsenal more deadly then a platoon, and are super strong and super fast?
To make it worse, no one thought in the heat of the war what might happen when those demobilized super-soldiers went home with a computer irreversibly implanted in their brains, and it can open fire on it's on initiative.

Immortal Tyranny (The Judas Chronicles Book 5)
Krontos Lazarevic may be the vilest sorcerer to ever live. He stands in the way of William Barrow (aka Judas Iscaritot) finishing his quest to reclaiming thirty pieces of silver paid to him to betray Jesus Christ.

Forced to flee an underground fortress in Abingdon, Virginia, William and his companions end up in the quirky spiritual town of Sedona, Arizona. For a short while, it appears they might finally have a moment to enjoy life without looking over their shoulders. But the purchase of a horse ranch brings only temporary happiness once Krontos demands William’s surrender of the Dragon Coin.

In the midst of this latest crisis, another blood coin resurfaces. Believed lost with the fall of the Third Reich, this coin was once legendary for miraculous events among prisoners at Stutthof and later Auschwitz concentration camps. For that reason alone, it is preferred by Krontos over the Dragon Coin. But the coin also is key to restoring a medieval shrine known as The Silver Trinity of Death.

The race is on to block Krontos from purchasing the Stutthof-Auschwitz Coin from the antiquities black market. If the shrine is restored to its previous state, nothing will stand in the way of Krontos’s grand designs—something he once enlisted the Nazis to help accomplish.

The atrocities of World War II serve as a reminder that unspeakable horror is never far away. And as such, the stakes have never been higher, or deadlier, for William and the gang as they travel to Germany, Poland, and finally Hungary to stop this latest madman from taking over the world.

The first book of this series was on the Amazon Top 100 Free a couple of months ago, the fourth book of the series is on the top free list today. Books two and three are also free. There is an omnibus edition that contains books 1 through 3 that is free as well.

The Survivors: Book One (Life After War 1)

Untold miles of lawless, apocalyptic roads wait for our feet, and the future, cold and dark, offers little comfort. Without change, there can be no peace. Only survivors.”

From dangerous trips into dark, apocalyptic cities, to patriotic rescues and furious revelations, Life After War is an action-packed fantasy series where those left alive must come to terms with their mistakes in the old world, while fighting for a place in the new one. Life After War. Magic and Reality blended into a post-apocalyptic fantasy series that you won't ever forget.

Safe Haven (Life After War Book 3)

Angie and Marc have made it to Safe Haven and Kenn is already on the edge of murder. Will Adrian be able to stop the bloodshed or will everything he’s built start to fall? Can he keep the enemy at bay long enough to teach his people how to be survivors of this new apocalyptic world? After months of carrying the burdens alone, Adrian finally has the help he needs. Five of the six have come and he can’t wait to get things started. With Angie’s magic and his people skills, he is about to rebuild an entire country… If he can keep them out of the Slaver’s path long enough to get these special survivors to bond. If they won’t work together, everyone is doomed.

Adrian's Eagles (Life After War Book 4)

Three months after the War, Safe Haven refugee camp has made it to South Dakota and now holds six of the seven special survivors meant to lead the rebuilding of their country… But it can’t be done until they find a safe place to settle, and who can think of peace when there’s a huge camp of foreign invaders less than a day behind their group and they only want one thing? Safe Haven and everyone inside the light.

Will Adrian be able to keep his people out of Cesar’s evil control long enough to finish the training he’s begun? The enemy numbers are over 300 and growing. There are currently 64 Eagles in Adrian’s army. Maybe if Marc can come up with the right plan and Angela can tell him when. He’ll also need Samantha to warn him when Nature is attacking. John will look after their health and Kenn will be banished if he can’t let go of Angie, who has found something she really wants (even though no one else, not even Brady, wants her to try for it). The Survival of America: everyone is on equal ground, working for a common goal, yet it won’t happen overnight and not everyone can handle Adrian’s version of safety, including some of his closest people.

GMO 24- Complete Omnibus- A Tale Of Prepper Survival

GMO 24 changed our world- Just not the way we intended.

GMO-24 was regarded as the solution to world hunger. The human race had finally succeeded in perfecting the art of food production at the molecular level. GMO-24 was a strand of altered proteins that could be inserted into the genetic layout of any crop, allowing it to maximize the natural nutrients of the surrounding soil.

But when the altered crops leave the land from which they were harvested barren and dead, the country scrambles to correct the damage. The result is the creation of The Soil Coalition, a government agency responsible for ensuring that the United States remains fed at any cost. But when the Coalition’s endeavors transform communities into concentration camp-like environments, it’s decided to put an end to the Coalition’s power.

Caught in the middle of the power struggle between the Coalition and the rest of the U.S. Government, is Alex Grives. With the balance of life and death in his hands, only he has the ability to change the fate of the country. There will be casualties, but the decision of who will fill the body bags rests with Alex.

Burgeoning powers she previously thought impossible, like controlling the elements and sensory expansion, give her some confidence. Doctor Who: The Time Lord Letters
No one could travel through time—past, present, and future—as much as the Doctor does without leaving an impression. Much of what we know about this mysterious figure comes from the planets he saves and the monsters he defeats. But we've had little knowledge of his writings until now.

The Time Lord Letters is a collection of more than one hundred letters, notes, and jottings both by and to the Doctor—correspondence by turns entertaining and inspiring, funny and flippant, brilliant and incredible.

From the Doctor's plea to the Time Lords to help end the War Games to an extract from the written defense he submitted at his subsequent trial; from his application for the post of Caretaker at Coal Hill School to his apology to the Queen for missing dinner; from telepathic messages to the High Council on Gallifrey to his famous letter to Santa Claus—The Time Lord Letters captures the best and most dramatic moments of an impossible life.

You'll never see the Doctor in quite the same way again.

PRIMAL Mirza (The PRIMAL Series)
PRIMAL Mirza is a prequel in the PRIMAL series. It reveals the back-story of Mirza Mansoor, a former Indian Special Forces soldier turned PRIMAL operative. It is approximately 150 pages long.

The year is 1999 and tensions between Pakistan and India are at breaking point. When critical intelligence prompts a cross border raid Indian Para Commandos arrive too late to prevent the deployment of a team of Lashkar terrorists. Mirza Mansoor, a Special Group operative and his partner Himesh Arjun, are all that stands between highly trained jihadists and their sinister objectives. As they track their quarry from the mountains of Kashmir to India’s capital they realize that terrorism is not the only threat they face. In the poverty-stricken slums of New Delhi crime and terror have free reign, greed is king, life is cheap, and heroes are few and far between.

This story is set just after the Kargil war between India and Pakistan, the closest these two nuclear-armed states have come to full-scale conflict. Having been defeated at Kargil, ISI and terrorist proxies escalated operations against India, which culminated in the 2008 Mumbai attack, resulting in over 600 casualties. During this time, the NSG, India’s lead counter-terrorism response unit, was severely under-resourced and -equipped. It’s in this setting of extreme contrasts, corruption, and terrorist threat that I’ve crafted a backstory for one of PRIMAL’s favorite characters.

Land (Stranded Book 1)
Five go by Land - Five go by Sea
A group of teens on a class trip to Disneyland are left stranded. An EMP over North America has destroyed everything electronic. No cars, no planes, no phones, no electricity. Refusing to wait for someone else to help them, ten courageous young people take charge of their future and choose to begin the long journey home. 1500 miles of adventure and lawless country await. Will their determination be enough?

Alex, Quinn, Josh, Cooper and Dara - setting out on foot with nothing more than some soon to be worthless cash and a little advice from a trusted teacher, they walk through a burning city that has come to a halt. The devastation they see as they make their way out of the city is a small part of the horror that the nation will become. As the days go by with no food deliveries and no water flowing from taps, civilization will start to crumble and it will be survival of the fittest. With five States and half a Province to cross they will need to plan well, count on each other and pray for a little luck. Even with that, chances are slim of getting home when you are Stranded.

In Search of A Revolution
In 1918 young Zacharias Nielsen boards a ship in Copenhagen to join the Red Guards in the Finnish Civil War. Encouraged by an idolised teacher with communist leanings, he follows the call for help from his Nordic Comrades, despite his privileged background.
His best friend, Ansgar, has opposing political ideals to Zacharias but, for his own personal reasons, finds himself soon stuck in the Scandinavian North with Zacharias and Raisa, a Finnish nurse who helps them in their new life.
Through the years that follow the brotherly war the trio see the political landscape in Finland and Europe change as Communists and Fascists try to make their mark and attempt to change the world order.
Our heroes must find their own personal and ideological place in these turbulent times as friendship, honour, idealism and love triangles bring out some personal truths.

The book spans almost thirty years of history and the various Finnish conflicts: Civil War, Winter War, Continuation War and the Lapland War. Watch the political and personal self discovery of characters in search of their own revolution.

Survival Super Boxset: Four Best Selling Prepper/Survival Books

Prepping on a budget-
Are you convinced about prepping but don't know where to begin? You are not alone. The idea has steadily gained popularity over the last few years but a lot of people are still hesitant to take action. One of the main barriers to adoption is the mistaken belief that it requires lavish resources. The truth is that preparations can start without spending a great deal of cash. Most of the tasks involve the acquisition of useful skills rather than materials. As such, they can be accomplished as long as you are willing to exert the necessary effort.

Can, Preserve, Dry
Looking for a great way to save money, eat healthier, and learn a time tested skill set? Learning how to can your own foods is a great way to accomplish all of that and more! This book will cover the equipment you’ll need to get started and the different methods of safe, effective canning.

EMP Survival
An electromagnetic pulse is one of the more dangerous possibilities floated around by survivalists and others in the modern era. It is a weapon that has a special kind of significance in today's world, something that wouldn't have been nearly so traumatizing just a few decades ago. Understanding what this kind of attack can do - and who it can impact - is an important part of being prepared for the future.

31 Days to a Prepared Life
The idea of prepping and equipping yourself with the knowledge to survive a disaster has grown in popularity over the past few years. Volatile natural disasters, terrorism, and escalating violence have caused many people to reevaluate how prepared they are in the event of a disaster. Unfortunately, surviving and preparing yourself to survive a disaster is no easy task. It can take years of practice and preparation to fully prepare yourself to survive any disaster. We look to change this trend with this book and give you enough knowledge to put together a basic survival plan

Rumors of Glory is a 44,300 word introduction to the System States Rebellion series.

Humanity has colonized over 500 planets under the not always benevolent administration of the Federation of Planetary States via the FED Army and Navy. Long standing grievances over economic exploitation by Earth-based companies has grown into a full scale rebellion and attempted secession by many of the more successful colonies. The Rebels believe a peaceful separation is possible. The FEDs believe an easy and swift military resolution is available. Both dreams of glory are shattered by the reality of a civil war that is rapidly escalating in scope and violence.

You'll see Grand Strategy planned at the highest levels plus the execution of those plans by the men and women who will do the fighting and dying. The 2nd book in the series, Rumors of Honor, is now available too.

I Got Here As Fast As I Could
A woman trying to overcome a family tragedy. A doctor trying to save his patients without the help of modern medicine. A retired couple trying to save each other as their city drowns around them.

Ten years ago, Hurricane Katrina and a failed levee system threatened the survival of a great American city. New Orleans natives and people from all over the United States rushed to help those in distress. Together they saved thousands of lives, performing daring rescue missions for days after the levees broke.

The New Machiavelli: New And Improved Machiavellian Concepts For The Modern Age

Few books throughout history have been as controversial as Nicollo Machiavelli’s ‘The Prince”. The ideas that are contained in “The Prince” are as powerful as they are polarizing. The work was originally intended to pass on the acquired wisdom of the one of the most astute political minds the world has ever known. It was never intended for the eyes of the public but found its way into general release following Machiavelli’s death.

The principles within The Prince can be used in many more areas of life than simply the political world. Anyone who is looking to get ahead in life and provide themselves with an advantage over others will find a goldmine of valuable information in this new modern version of the book written by author Brandon Musk entitled “The New Machiavelli”.

This version presented by Musk represents the power and knowledge of Machiavelli’s original work updated and improved upon for the modern era in which we live. The language has been made understandable and all references have been updated for modern readers.

The book is structured in a way which makes it as useful as possible. Each chapter contains a concise collection of key ideas organized in a logical way. The chapters begin by explaining what Machiavelli originally intended by his words and then proceeds to update each concept for the 21st century. Finally, each chapter shows practical and useful ways of applying the Machiavelli philosophy to different areas of life.

If knowledge is power, then this book is a nuclear weapon. It contains the most devastatingly effective tactics related to influence ever committed to paper. By reading and applying this work you will become diabolically effective in any area of life you choose.

#90 The War State: The Cold War Origins Of The Military-Industrial Complex And The Power Elite, 1945-1963

Today when you factor in the interest on the national debt from past wars and total defense expenditures the United States spends almost 40% of its federal budget on the military. It accounts for over 46% of total world arms spending. Before World War II it spent almost nothing on defense and hardly anyone paid any income taxes. You can't have big wars without big government. Such big expenditures are now threatening to harm the national economy. How did this situation come to be?

In this book you'll learn how in the critical twenty years after World War II the United States changed from being a continental democratic republic to a global imperial superpower. Since then nothing has ever been the same again. In this book you will discover this secret history of the United States that formed the basis of the world we live in today.

He is sent behind enemy lines to Finland thwart this new menace.
But finding and stopping the Germans is just the first problem among many. Will the local Finns, battling Soviet Russia, greet him as friend or foe?
And what of the Red Army, who want the technology for themselves?
Worse still, Maddox quickly realises not everyone on his team wants him to make it through the war alive.

#15 Pope Benedict XVI: Protector of Faith or Opponent of Progress?

No matter what one ultimately decides about Benedict, it remains incontrovertible that he is a remarkable man. Not only was he a world-class theologian before he was elected to the papacy, but he also gained renown on February 28, 2013, by becoming the first pope to resign freely since Celestine V. He has always been a man who is concerned with the direction of humanity and the triumph of truth, love, and goodness.

His zest for life manifests itself not only through his dedication to the church, to theology, and to his ministry, but also through his love of Mozart, his affection for his cat, and his enthusiastic admiration of the beauty of creation.
