Hugh Vales 1947-2011

Mr. Hugh M. Vales, 64, of Hamlet, IN, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at his home.
He was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Chicago to James R. and Ruth M. (Butler) Vales.

Hugh worked as a correctional captain for Westville Correctional Facility for 30 years. He was a member of NRA, Starke County Amateur Ham Radio Association, AR 15 Club, and Ducks Unlimited. He was a state firearms instructor and a member of the Indiana Police Firearms Training Association. Hugh was a veteran of the 33rd Div. Field Artillery as a sergeant of the Illinois National Guard, and a member of the Indiana Army Reserve. He was an outdoorsman. Hugh was a beloved father, grandfather and husband. He was a great friend and mentor to all.
