42 is ridiculous.  And he looks so damn healthy in those pix from just a few years back.

My family's prayers for his...  Requiescat in pace.

Godspeed.

One thing I remember was how he would reference his own fight with cancer usually only to encourage others.

Pretty damn impressive.  He knew his odds weren't good and didn't let it get to him; rather he shared his strength and positive spirit.  That's an example to which we
should all adhere to in our turn.

I remember this as well. I was always amazed at his inner strength and the encouragement he gave in his posts. He will be sorely missed. My prayers to him and his loved ones.
May he rest in peace.

Wow.  So young to be gone.   We owe him a great thanks for his service to our country and friendship to our community.

Thanks for the photo boss. Hard to believe it has been this long.

FWIW, creating the Memorial forum is one of the best things Arfcom has ever done.

I was just talking about him to my father.  He and I are both veterans.  We were talking about who in our lives has impressed us and John immediately came to mind.

Here is John shooting one of my Garands at the Hun Farm shoot you mentioned in the OP:

He rode with me on that trip and helped me lug around that heavy ass AR50.  I had just gotten it and he helped me do the break-in procedure outlined by ArmaLite in the owners manual and zeroing the scope in the process.

Very unselfish guy.

It's hard to believe it's been 5 years.
