KAC for the people that are wondering are committed to providing solutions for serious customers, the kind that don't talk about 1 shot 1 kill but who are working in that mindset most if not all the time - many of there rifles benefit from very effective KAC muzzle devices and longer gas systems to reduce felt recoil which is very important for there customers so they can shoot accurately 3 round, full auto or double tap. There remaining parts of the rifles from the quality of the barrel to the durability of the upper and lower assemblies to the quality of the parts kits are all top notch. I personally have had numerous unfortunate incidents with colt rifles that I haven't had with the few KAC rifles I have used. When you start talking about the new buzz phrase mil-spec+ KAC is definitely worthy of that. If you compare them to another top notch company like LWRC I think LWRC's piston solutions give them a clear advantage but in that one area. Otherwise as shown with the sr-25 and it's .mil counter part they have provided real usable and professional solutions unlike many many company's. |

Don't laugh too hard...the sniper team that won the Service division of the 2010 ISC (Fort Bragg) were using the Larue OBR. They could have used the M110 if they wanted, but they chose the OBR. From service members I've talked to who have actually used KAC rifles in theatre, none have seemed overly impressed...in fact I've heard a couple guys say the M110 isn't worth half of what the government pays for them. I've been around the industry most of my life and I'll admit KAC makes some nice kit (obviously), but I think the cost/benefit ratio is very out of whack for most civilians. They might be a fine choice for the military, but there are better choices for the likes of us. |

Perhaps you could explain that further, as opposed to colt or what other brands ? I have never spent serious time with the sr25 but even modern off the shelf solutions like the Remington r25 are very accurate and fairly durable for pricing around a 1k. I can imagine adcors new 308 which is about 1400 with some precision upgrades being a serious contender to the sr25 with added durability of the piston system and bolt cover.
