Do want. Or an FX8.

Right now, it's a Boss GT-8 in 4CM with the Mark V.  I thought it was great, until I plugged it in again tonight for the first time in 6 months. Now it sounds like I've thrown a blanket over the amp, and I may need to go back and re-EQ.

Or just finish my stomp box pedalboard. It's basic and in progress, built on a Home Depot shelf - a tuner, Route 66 (Tubescreamer and Dynacomp clones), Cry Baby, ISP Decimator G-String, EQ, TC Flashback delay, and a plastic Ibanez Soundtank chorus (to be replaced with a TC Dreamscape chorus/flanger/vibrato). Not pictured is a Boss RC3 looper currently in the other rig. There's nothing really boutique, but it has some basic workmanlike effects. Final layout and cabling TBD. My eye's on a used Pedaltrain Pro on Craigslist, too.

These link correctly, but the preview does not show. I guess postimg.org doesn't allow it? Any ideas?

Yeah, tone suck is one thing that's always bothered me about my Boss VF-1. It's good enough for what I paid for it, but between the tone suck and the lousy reverbs, the VF-1 leaves some to be desired.

But the G System? I haven't noticed any tone suck to speak of, and all of the effects sound great. It blows my old VF-1 out of the water. The drawback is that it takes alot of tweaking of levels and whatnot to get everything setup. But in the end, it should be worth it.

I tried fixing them a couple different ways, but couldn't get them to work. Most guys around here use Photobucket.com or TinyPic.com and they seem to work well.

Edit: nevermind, I see that you fixed it. Nice setup.

Very tempting to save my pennies. I'm going to throw a graphic EQ in post-fx to see if I can pinpoint the area of loss. If that works, I'll try to tweak the GT's parametric. It's very handy to have an all-in-one box for limited space in our house. I've had a lot of multi fx (both floor and rack) over the years, so am not intimidated by the tweaking (but it's still a nuisance).

Somewhat related, I did for the first time manage to get the GT8 to go into controlled feedback using its own amp sim (instead of the MkV's tube pre), which has eluded me and apparently many amp sim users. In fairness, it was still through a tube power section. I'm going to try running it straight into a set of solid state PA speakers to see if I can replicate the effect.

They are not called Gorm any more. They are made from pine. They came in a two pack. I chopped one slat off with my miter saw. I got the handles from Home Depot along with the poplar front piece.

Very nice. I kinda miss my old G-System. I miss the Nova System that came before it as well. Great units!

I wired-up a special cable to switch my Bogner XTC channels from my G-System. I truly had a one-tap solution going-on there. But the Bogner loop didn't not play well with the TC at all (especially doing the 4-cable method -- which is something that is awesome to use on G-system because of those switchable loops). In my case, I had to use the Kill Dry feature and it still affected my tone. The G-system worked well with my VHT Pitbull though (or whatever other amps I had during that time).

Thanks.

And that's where I'm kinda lucky. Santiago Alvarez designed the Marshall JVM series with the G System in mind, and tested the amps with the G System. So aside from having to tweak some levels, the G System gets along with my JVM well.

Very nice. Ima go out on a limb and guess that you like Boss FX.

I had a Supersonic Twin last year. I just used the clean channel, and ran Bogner Red and Blue pedals for my drive. That rig sounded as good as my XTC Classic.

I do like Boss. Consistent size, sturdy construction, large pedal area and no complaints on quality, plus Boss pedals are buffered. I only use the clean channel on my Fender as well, with the "Fat" mode engaged to give a little mid boost.

Yeah, the SS OD channel just isn't right, after having owned many great tube amps. But the clean is as good as any Fender I've ever owned/played. I liked it better than the Reissue Twin Reverb I used to have. I think that having Vintage 30 speakers in the SS versus the Webers in the TRRI is a big part of that.

The G12K-100 is the perfect speaker for a Supersonic, IMHO. That's what they had my SS running through at the shop the day I tried it out. The clean channel sounded glorious through them. But yeah, the dirty channel sucks no matter what. I might have to try some mods if I ever get bored enough.

Very nice! I've got a ton of pedals on three different boards. But the only one I'm currently using is centered around my M9, with a tuner, boost, comp, and wah on the board as well. I'm not a fan at all of any of Line 6's amps. But they do very well with their FX. That new Helix unit really has my attention, but a big part of what I like about the M9 is its simplicity. So I'm thinking that the Helix would just be WAY overboard for me.

Have you seen any of the videos demoing how you edit stuff?  I think it looks far easier to edit than anything comparable.

I haven't watched any vids or even opened the manual. In fact, my music store buddy had set a bunch of nice presets on M9 before I bought it from him, so I had left them as he set them. And then I took it to a gig and managed to fat-foot it into a different bank of presets. I called him up on the break and he told me how to get-out of that and back to the bank I wanted. Once I did that, I started turning knobs and it became instantly obvious how to use the M9. So yeah... once I bothered to look, it was pretty easy to figure-out. MUCH better than the myriad of other multi-FX units that I've owned and had to figure-out (TC G-System, TC Nova System, Vox Tonelab LE, etc).

Updated pedal board.

Sorry I was talking of the Helix ;).  But I agree and think Line6 does user friendly better than near any multi-fx or modeler

Warspite- what do you think of that power supply unit? I picked one up but I'm nervous about it- like I don't trust it! Mine also has a seriously wonky euro plug and Edison adapter. I super hate that. But it's cheap and so far hasn't failed. Have you had yours long?

I bought mine off Amazon during the Christmas deals year before last, but have not used it until last week when I finally got a real pedal board.  (I think I paid around $25 for it)  So, I can't speak to it's longevity.  But, it turns on and powers my tuner and distortion pedals just fine.  I don't use it to try to run the M9...I have that plugged into a power strip.

Also, I'm just taking lessons and don't plan on doing gigs, so if it fails, I won't get worked up about it.

I don’t have a picture but the only two pedals I am currently using are the Digitech Drop (digital drop tuning) and the ISP Decimator 2 (noise gate). I currently run all of my effects through my Line 6 Spider IV. And by effects, I mean 99% of the times it’s heavy metal. Think, “…and Justice for All” mixed with “Vulgar Display of Power.”

I know Line 6 has a reputation for crappy distortion, but believe me when I say some of the artist presets are legit! Mainly the Riggs and Riggs Insane (Riggs is formally from White Zombie, if I recall). The Master of Puppets is pretty good, too.

updated with new pedals:  the compressor and tube screamer.  The pedal power can't run the tube screamer, so I'm going to get the a/c adapter for it.  But, it's out of stock for several weeks everywhere I've looked.

Very nice! I could easily gig your board and dig it (can't say that for a lot of other boards out there). I've currently got the M9, a Bogner Harlow, Cusack More Louder, TC Mini Poly Tune, and BBE Ben Wah running into my Friedman Smallbox.

I just recently started putting together a pedalboard after 40 years of never having one.
For years all I needed was a couple or three pedals and then moved into multi affects boards when they came out.

Here lately our band has been moving into sonic territories that the old Boss ME70 can't cover.

Sorry for the baggage in the pic I didn't feel like running out just to take a photo of the peddalboard alone.

I built the board out of wood and covered it with a velcro carpet material.

Thanks!  My guitar teacher has been directing the growth of my board.  I absolutely love the Tube Screamer. Of course it's a classic pedal, so I'm not the first person to say that.  I was really surprised at how much difference the compressor made.
