I'm still on my hunt for a new guitar, and was checking out the American Deluxe Strat. Anyone have one? Thoughts?

I'm going to head to my local Fender dealer this weekend to play one, but was hoping for some info from you folks first.

Thanks for not being naked in the neck plate reflection.

Did you do an A/B comparison when you got yours vs a 'standard'?

To date I have no 'single coil' sound in my rack other than a single, single coil Gibson Melody Maker.  Been pondering adding a Strat or a Tele and keeping it essentially stock.
Any thoughts on 'American Standard' vs 'American Deluxe'?...

I played a few standards both american and mim. I liked the pups and the switching better on the deluxe with the HSS configuration. It is the most versatile electric guitar
I have ever owned. To me it was worth the price difference but I bought mine when they were much cheaper than they are now.

I am seriously looking at used.
Found several 'Standards' in the 650 and up range.
Deluxes starting around 850$.

Only thing I'm set on currently is Maple fingerboard and SSS p/ups... I have rosewood and humbuckers covered already elsewhere.

I have a 2006 deluxe and I also built a partscaster in deluxe configuration with N3 pickups. That was a complicated wiring job!

I also have a Tele Deluxe that rock too!

The American Deluxes are probably my favorite Strats, but I would definitely buy used. There is nothing wrong with a new one but you can save hundreds of dollars buying a used USA Deluxe and there are a LOT of used American Fenders out there that have hardly been played. It's a buyers market. If it were me. I'd go for one of the ash-bodied Deluxes with a transparent finish, they are beautiful guitars.
