$2,250,000 in helmets for the three gentlemen mentioned above.     ($750,000 X 3) Those can never be reused for any other pilots, and must be custom fit for EACH PILOT of the aircraft 

No arguments that it is a great plane, but at what cost?

No arguments that it is a great plane, but at what cost?   
At $100 Million or so per airplane, it's a small expense in the overall scheme of things. If you're the pilot who makes the high off bore line kill and saves a $100M airplane in the process, it's paid for itself about 350 times over.

They laser-fit the soft inserts for each pilot, not the whole helmet, at least in the description I watched from the chief Lockheed test pilot.

THIS

The helmet shell and all the electronics is reusable.  The cushion insert is pilot specific.  Pilots' helmets have been that way since the 1980s, long before the whiz-bang sight helmets came along.
