Contest dates are Thursday, May 4th, through Saturday, May 6th. Registration will be Wednesday, May 3rd.
Practice will be Saturday, April 29th through Wednesday May 3rd.

Ever wondered what an aerobatic contest was like? Thinking of trying it? Just want to see how it runs, maybe just love planes and want to help out? This is not an airshow, the pilots perform very precise maneuvers in front of judges looking for technical details, not just inverted ribbon cuts to wow a crowd.

If you have an aerobatic plane and want to compete, come out and we can coach you through the primary sequence. Never done acro? We can help introduce you to the SAFE way to learn. We have practice days for almost a week prior to the contest to help introduce people into the sport.

There are five classes

Primary. This years primary sequence is a 45* climb, 1 1/2 turn spin, half cuban (loop to 24* down then roll upright and pull level), loop, 180* turn, and a roll. This sequence can be done in a clipped wing cub. I competed in Primary with my 115 HP Citabria, placing 2nd. RV's have no issue with Primary and I think have an advantage over planes like Decathlons. Primary pilots fly the same flight 3-4 times called the "known".

Sportsman. Adds a few more maneuvers to include hammerheads and point rolls. A Decathlon can easily win Sportsman and an RV is almost perfectly suited for Sportsman. Sportsman pilots are allowed to fly the same flight three times (the known), or to design a free program. A free program has to meet certain point values and contain certain figures. If they design a free, they fly the known and then the free twice.

Intermediate. This adds snap rolls, rolls on the vertical up line, and negative G maneuvers.  Intermediate can be done in RV's and Decathlons, but some people don't like to snap RV's and 8KCAB's. Planes pretty much need an inverted fuel and oil system. Intermediate has three flights, the known, a free, and an unknown. The free is mandatory, you have to design one. And you get introduced to the unknown. The unknown is a flight designed by someone and all pilots have to fly it for the first time for a score.

Advanced adds partial snaps and much harder unknowns. The fly the known, free and unknown flights.

Unlimited is the top class. You pretty much need a top level plane. The fly the known, free, and unknown.
