Who said it was "perfectly good" ? It may have been a rough, rutted piece of swamp that "looked perfect" from the air.

Most of the 'perfect, off-field sites' in my AO are just... perfect death traps.

We shouldn't judge until we know the whole story.

I read an article about the crash.  This guy was a high end investor, had an ATP license and type ratings  in 2 small jets.  Will be interesting to see what NTSB can figure out.
