PIPESTONE COUNTY, MN - The Pipestone County Sheriff and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating what caused a deadly plane crash just after eight Monday night near Holland, Minnesota. Authorities say three people died in the crash.
A crash report from the FAA says the plane was a Wheeler Express which belonged to 59 year-old Steve Christensen of Pipestone. Christensen was also the pilot of the plane. Inside were two passengers, 18 year-old Marcos Favela and a 13-year-old girl. According to a Christiansen family friend, the two teenagers, both from Mexico, were relatives of Christensen.

A county road south of Holland, Minnesota is still closed off today as crews continue to look at the crash site. Our camera was kept away from the scene, but according to the Pipestone County Sheriff's Department, the plane was found in the cornfield in a waterway. The three people inside the plane were pronounced dead at the scene.

People stopped near the crash site on Tuesday, and while they didn't want to appear on camera, they did say Christensen was a great person and a good member of the community. His family was also too emotional to talk with us.

Five agencies responded to the crash. Its cause is still undetermined. As officials try to figure out what did cause the crash, this community will mourn the loss of three people taken away too soon.

Memorial Services for Christensen are pending at the Hartquist Funeral Home and the Pipestone Chapel.

There's not too much information yet about the incident. He stopped into the FBO I work at pretty frequently and he was always a super nice, upbeat guy. It's a shame he took two others down with him.
