oh yeah, why do they roll inverted, pull over the top of the mountain, then roll back upright? Why not just push over the top?

Because negative G's aren't very comfortable.  And planes can typically pull more positive Gs, than negative. Roll inverted, and pull. But, you need to roll inverted before you reach the peak of the hill, so you don't give a big "wing flash" as you cross over the top.

VR-1355 is a fun low level.

And it's safer to boot. No push-pull issues, better visibility and less energy loss.

Bunting with negative g going over a ridgeline is very uncomfortable. Rolling inverted and pulling is very dangerous. It becomes very difficult to maintain situation awareness when you are just looking at dirt. When I was at Red Flag they were pushing to get guys to roll to 90 degrees and use rudder to do it, that way maintaining good situation awareness. Over banking a bit is ok too, but inverted may be a bit much.

At about 10:47 in the second video he's over the foothills of the North Cascades about 60 miles north of Seattle.

That's Segelsen Ridge in the foreground with the abandoned rock quarry.

Unsolicited fact of the day.
