1991 Kitfox II

at the airport before bringing it home.

5 gallon header tank has been removed today.  Will be using the wing tanks for now.

Panel,  for those of you who are observant the altimeter shows below sea level.  Shop messed up the calibration at the last annual.  It has been re calibrated today.

It came home on the trailer yesterday evening. It is now sitting in my yard behind the trailer.  Work on it has been completed and it will be going to the airport in the morning. New weight and balance finished after making a few changes in it.

As it came home yesterday.

It is off the trailer with the wings out now but will be reloaded soon.  Will be flying it tomorrow.  Have to get the 20 hours in to satisfy the insurance company before I take a passenger.

Kitfox is a neat plane. Not very roomy for "over-standard" pilots, but fun to fly.

A friend hired me to fly his to Casper Co., WY after a very extensive check-out in it (7 hours); took 24 and change flight hours at 85 knots according to my logs.

Which HF rig are you going to put in it?

Not a lot of space in it.  Are you donating a KX3?

My second flight in it is now history.  A fun little plane.  Starting to feel more familiar with it.

Back in the hanger next to the Aerotrek A220

Pardon my ignorance, but what are the flap looking things behind the trailing edge of the wings? And nice plane OP, looks fun.

Those are flaperons.  Combination Flaps and ailerons.  You can learn more about the Kitfox planes here.

Mine is a 1990 Model 2  Engine is Rotax 582

The bush gear and large tundra tires take close to 10 mph off the published cruise speed.

But did it have 65 hp and was it able to fly from 29 to 85 mph?

I haven't heard the answer?  Are you buying me a KX3 for the plane?

Can't afford it, as I'm still getting over the cost of my K2, and I have something else on order right now.

But, if you do put in a HF rig and go air mobile, I promise to spot you on internet.

BTDT  (been there, done that)  Came close in the Kitfox yesterday.  Did it in a J3 Cub and a Champ.  Low and slow is the most fun flying.

A close second is wringing out a Citabria.  Rolls, loops, stalls and spins are fun too.  Never tried it in a Pitts.  If your Pitts is a S2 you may be able to convince me to ride along so you can prove that I am wrong.

I also have a Citabria, so I can give you a ride in it…. It is why I kept it. But the Pitts is an S1S

If you are anywhere near northern Indiana it would be easy for you to talk me into that.  I have always like the Citabria.
