It's an under wing access hatch.

That's cool.  And that is a wonderful job on the paint.

I hear that happens as you get older....probably not uncommon in a number of 70+ year olds.

All kidding aside, I was always intrigued by the Aerocobra's design.  Makes a lot of sense, but not as practical as a traditional front engine design.

Neat design, I don't think the performance was up to par with other aircraft of the time either.

WTH brings a float plane to Arizona? Found one though. Had a friend fly in. Had to check out his ride.
It must be tough flying guys with golf clubs around. Stuffed him full of Mexican food last night.
The cockpit looks awfully small to have bean farts. I'm sure his co pilot is going to love us for that.
My humble submissions.

Hope he has that parking brake set! And those tires chocked real good!

When I saw that I kinda cringed! I can just see that thing rolling forward and putting a nice dent in the LE of his v-stab! Or, the guy on the tug pulling it forwards instead of pushing it backwards! LOL!!!!!

No kidding, how many spotters did they have to shoe horn that thing in there. Looks like a disaster waiting to happen to me.
Does the thing come with a anchor? or a rope? Would be a PITA if your ride floated off.

Edit for I live in Arizona and don't know crap about this stuff.

Not just for the film, she was here on her normal tour schedule and in conjunction with the Wings Over The Rockies ceremony opening their Exploration of Flight Center.

ETA: She leaves tomorrow at 1300.

I've always had a fascination with the Fortress. I'll never forget the first time I witnessed one taxing on the ramp. Man, what an experience!

I often wondered why the Horten 229 in the posession of the Air and Space Museum was not on display.  As I flipped through this picture series (several pages worth) it became obvious.  It needs a lot of work not in the restoration sense but keeping the existing structure intact.  I had never seen any pictures of the example in US possession.

It's amazing how far forward their engineers were. Look at the Focke-Achgelis Fa 223  and the osprey.

Love the Thud. Wish they'd pull that one off that stick and restore it to airworthy condition. Not much chance of that though.

Actually, I wish Pima's two F-105s would get some attention. A single seat and a Wild Weasel...that would be a great airshow act.

two days ago this 767 caught on fire while taxiing to 10L at kfll for a flight to caracas, venezuela.  it was reported that fuel was leaking from the left wing and then the left engine caught fire. all passengers got out, but 21 were taken to the hospital, most cuts and scrapes, but one broken arm and one head injury from falling on the tarmac while running from the plane.
