Smoked a pipe off and on a little back in my college days (the tobacco kind, not the other kind ya filthy hippies ) and have been browsing pipes and pipe tobacco online lately. Thinking about picking up some starter supplies and seeing what I think. Seems like it would be a nice change of pace from cigars once in a while, ans the tatses and aromas of both are VERY different, and I recall pipe smoking being pretty relaxing and enjoyable with the right tobacco. You guys and this forum aren't a very good influence, but I'm ok with that.

Lordy, the nicer looking handmade pipes can be pricey though! Some are just plain works of art, so it's understandable. I have seen a fair number of really nice looking Nording's that I almost considered pulling the trigger on, but decided to wait to get some advice and do some good research first though.

Anybody care to recommend some favorite tobacco's, pipe makers, and/or places to buy online? Recommendations for related things like pipe tools, stands, etc? Get me started off in the right direction.

I finally got my corn cob pipe and English sampler pack from tobacco barn. I started with a traditional English blend for my first bowl.

I have a Dunhill pipe I purchased in Bulawayo Rhodesia in 1978 for about 85 US dollars or so. I like the Peterson pipes though, especially the military and deluxe models. Don't scrimp on pipes...

It sure is. It's a 2004 Discovery G4 Edition.

I enjoyed my first pipe. I desperately need to learn to pack properly.

Broke out the George Yale for a half a bowl or so of Bald Headed Teacher. Can't say a winter in storage did anything for it. Still a good smoke...
