I did flip the band for the picture, and the cigar is pretty dry actually, that one got left out.

well after a little research, seems you guys are experts
looks like my cigars were fakes, glad I didnt buy them. Ive heard about the glass top boxes, but this one was different, my friend had these in what looked like an original cohiba card board box (5 in the box) the box was about 75% of the blue and white boxes and the bottom 25% was the yellow, what seemed to me as authentic. What surprised me the most, these cigars were actually pretty good. |
|
|
Well, if the cigars are good then does it matter what the band on it is?
However the power of suggestion can do wonders on the mind as well as the pallet. The next time you smoke one it may not taste quite as good. |

Yeah, I know everyone says to use spanish cedar only. I have been using two coolers set up like this for about ten years and have never had a problem. Don't know if its spanish cedar or not, I kinda doubt it though.
So what is the problem supposed to be with cheap cedar anyway? |

Does it always have to be Spanish cedar?Primarily three types of wood are used for the humidor’s interior lining:
Spanish cedar offers the following advantages (botanical term “cedrela odorata”):
Spanish cedar does not originate from Spain as one might assume but is generally imported from Brazil and other countries of South and Central America. In some individual cases resin may form on the surface of the wood (See also humidor is secreting/resin). The risk of resin formation can be substantially reduced by previously drying the wood carefully.
American red cedar is inferior to Spanish cedar in humidity absorption and it exudes a more intense aroma. Some humidor manufacturers use American cedar because it is less expensive and with this wood there is no danger of resin formation. Particularly when storing cigars for longer periods the cigars will adopt a strong woody flavor that is generally not desired. Honduran mahogany has a humidity absorption rate comparable to that of Spanish cedar and at the same time has a less intense odor. Thus, unfortunately, the deterrent effect on worms and the desired flavoring of cigars is also not as good as with Spanish cedar. The veneer of the interior wood should be untreated. For long-term cigar storage those humidors should be preferred, which are lined with Spanish cedar. For cabinet humidors other woods with high humidity absorption capacity can also be used because in cabinet humidors the cigars are generally stored in their original Spanish cedar boxes. A tray made of Spanish cedar is recommendable for storing individual cigars in cabinet humidors. All adorini humidors are made exclusively with an interior lining of Spanish cedar. |

Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. |
Just get some empty cigar boxes from your local shop and use them to store your cigars, or use the wood to line your cooler. Easy fix.

Spanish Cedar Trays made from solid (not veneer) spanish cedar for $9.99. I have several of these. A lot of cigar boxes that have spanish cedar is just veneer over some other kind of wood.
