This is yet another attempt to remove the "loopholes" to the 2008 smoking ban.
It does have provisions for Cigar Bar and Cigar Lounge provisions but it greatly restricts the operation by limiting patronage.
It also really draws a fine line for clubs and other social meeting places...lots of rules and voids all the newer clubs started right before the 2008 law hit the books by tossing in a "ten year" or older clause.
It's ugly but unless the masses pound on the desks...it will pass "for the good of all"...
Now also let's remember that folks go to a cigar bar, lounge or club to SMOKE CIGARS!!!! There is no illusion or shell game...cigar bar...cigar...common sense.
The real purpose is to close off the other areas.
Casinos are a big target.
I do not smoke cigarettes...in fact, I hate the smell but if i go to one of the clubs I belong to, I know there may be someone there that smokes...and will actually light up.
If that happens, I move...and the same thing can be said if I light up a gar....I used to take my pipe but a few have asked to refrain from the pipe so I don't...membership has it privileges and it's rules!
They just want to say we have a clean commonwealth...but the OP is right...take a stand, call your rep!
The Bill is not new but it cleared committee and was placed on the table Nov 17th.
Here are the players that we need to "thank"...lot's of familiar names here -
