I hate excessively dry smokes.
I have a Versailles humidor that I got off Cbid a few years ago and it has always been a struggle to keep it between 65-70 % Lately it has been awful, even though the ambient humidity in the room is around 45% it still drops to 50% in a few days. Yes, I seasoned it years ago before putting any cigars in it.
Right now I have less than 50 sticks and it is a 100ct humidor.
I have a 2x5 "Q" brand sponge that came with the humidor, a 2 "Q" sponge, and a Xicar 4" bead thingamabob, all currently moist with the Xicar glycol 70% solution. Humidity stays between 50 and 60%.
I added an internal digital hygrometer and calibrated both that and the face-mounted mechanical one with the Boveda 75 kit, the digital was within 1% and the mechanical was within 3%, both were low.
Should I silicone the seams around the glass?
Should I give it away and buy one that maintains humidity electronically?
