and smoke your favorite cigar tonight.

My grandfather has been struggling with Stage 4 lung cancer for a few months now.

After his third treatment of chemo, his body turned against him.

His kidneys started to shut down. His heart as of yesterday was starting to fail. (His left arm filled up with fluid and starting weeping.)

His chest is full of fluid and they cant get rid of it.

As of this morning, he will not wake up. He is still breathing but wont come to.

Smoke one for him.

He worked over 20 years in the Panama Canal Zone, several years for different newspaper companies.

He has ran his own business for over 20 years.

Other than me he is the last male in my immediate family that is directly related to me.

I will have no male figure that I grew up with left. My dad passed away in May of 2012.

I think I am taking it rougher than anyone.

I am rambling right now...

At least he has someone who cares about him. (not all do)

Sorry for your impending loss.

Thank you. Its been rough these past few years without my Dad.

Now without my grandfather, I dont know what I will do.

He told me yesterday that his time had come. He had a good run and that he is ready to hug my Dad again.

I had to draw every bit of strength I had to not cry after he said that.

My grandfather was never the same after my Dad passed away.

Here is a picture of my grandfather and my daughter. He loves his great grand babies. Which are all girls. LOL

This was taken Apr 5.

I know it's tough, especially after losing your dad, and I really don't want to sound like an asshole, but my grandparents were born about fifty years before I was, so I realized that I probably would outlive them.

The photograph is really touching, and it shows how much he cared for the little girl. (little girls are special, anyway, to grandfathers)

The only thing you can do is cherish the memories you have. Nothing will ever take them from you.
