Flame lighters don't have the same problem...
I think that the jet torch variety burns too hot for these lighters to take that kind of abuse over a prolonged period of time. |

I had a flame Colibri that crapped out after two years. Shame, I really liked it too and would like another jet lighter just not from Colibri.

My cheap Ronsons work as well, I can never find them at walmart but always see them at CVS Pharmacy.
I thought you weren't supposed to use Bics or flame lighters on cigars. Is that not true? |

That's the only place I've been able to find them besides one random Walgreens. Drop me an IM with your address and I'll mail you one if you can't find one. Tried recently? I dont know about all but my local one got rid of the ronsons. I'm still sad. Do have 6 or so in a drawer. |

They only stock a dozen or so it seems. I've been there when there wasn't any, and then the next time I'm there they have restocked. Supposedly they are popular with the crack heads, so some places stopped selling them. |

My Xicar needs more attention than a high maintenence mistress... Double jet is great when it works, but my cheapo single jet out performs every time. I'm currently using a made in France Djeep A. Fuente swag lighter and have had zero problems with it. Why is it we are always drawn to the exotic and expensive?

Interesting to hear you all are having so many problems...Maybe I just got lucky but I've had an Element for close to 2 years now I think and as long as there's fuel in the lighter, the double torch lights up. I'm not exactly easy on it either....camping/hiking, trips to the beach (yes sand gets in it and everything else too), and various other situations that are most definitely not ideal for any lighter as most Bic's i use don't work after my trips. I'm sorry to hear of all these problems as I love my xikar...
I am however looking for a more durable/windproof/more suitable lighter for hiking and the outdoors so we'll see what becomes of it. As far as a suggestion on a butane lighter, I have a 10$ insert for my zippo that turns it into a single torch butane lighter...I really like it. Found it at like walmart or CVS....doesn't hold a ton of fuel but it looks good and gets the job done. only downside is always having to tell people not to point it at their face when they're gonna hit the button |

OP and anyone else having lighter problems, listen closely........................RONSON JETLITE!
Dead srs. I have 5 of them and 4 of them are still in the packaging. They are like 5 bucks a piece, so if one fails, oh well. Been using the same one for past 2 years. cant beat them edit: just saw that many others have recommended them. Can't go wrong really. Nothing wrong with a cheap lighter if it works. Now as far as cutters go, only Palio for me |

Well I got my two Xikar lighters from CBid, so far I like it but we'll see how long it lasts. I don't think I'll keep this second one though, I may look for a non-torch flight ignition lighter at some point. Anyone interested in a new Xikar Versa?>

I use Nibo space 7 ( double jet) or Space 6 ( triple jet) lighters, They last about 2 years for me and at $12-13 each they’re cheap enough if they don’t last much longer than that I don’t really care. Colibri’s are junk I had around 6 or eight of them and they don’t even make it through the year before they die.

I just wanted to say thanks for putting me onto the Ronson Jet light... It's an amazing lighter for just $5. And if it gets lost, or stops working, I won't care.
But damn, the thing is pretty solid. I bet Colibri would sell it for $50... ![]() |

I have a Colibri Firebird Trax that cost me $9.99 thast been going strong for a few years now.
* I use good butane (currently on my next to last can of Lava from back in the day.) * I purge before filling * I also turn the flame adjustment to off prior to purging * I fill after I turn the flame adjustment to full on. * i then adjust flame setting to midway * I take compressed air to clean jet * I wait 5 minutes to first ignition after filling * I only toast at an angle to the foot never on top or straight in. * I only ignite for no more than 10 seconds at a time. I will no longer buy high dollar torches, they fail to quickly, and sending them in for repair takes time and additional money. The Ronsol is a great value the only thing that bothers me is the "the lid" can get in the way of lighting larger guage cigars. |

Daytona955i was nice enough to send me one. Like I told him, I am very surprised at how solid the lighter feels for such a cheap price point. When I finally do find them locally I will be a bunch of them.
On the other hand my Xikar has been running perfectly. I had to find the sweet spot for the lighter flame adjustment to get it to work that way though. So if you are having problems with your Xikar, make small adjustments to the flame height until you hit the sweet spot and it will light every time.....hopefully. |

I finally took my old element with the defective fill nozzle to the b&m (xikar dealer).
It was still functioning, just spraying fuel when filling. The guy tried it, I explained and showed him the problem. He didn't have a black one in stock, so he gave me a new chrome one. The fill nozzle on this one fits the can nozzle fine, where the old one was too tight. Been using it, and extra happy until last night.... Lit a cigar, sat it down, and that was the last spark it will ever produce. Something went out in the piezo / igniter, no spark at all... Forgot to carry it with me today, but b&m guy said he will happily replace it :) Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
