All of my experience has been with thermal dynamics 102 and 152s in a heavy industrial setting (cutting 3/8 - 2"+)

I need something for home use that I can slice up stainless sheet with. All art, 1/8" would be a surprise.

I have a small compressor ~6CFM 90PSI. and a dryer I can hook up inline.

trying to run off 120v. otherwise I have to run a 240v outlet.

lincon, thermal dyne, other? Harborfreight? Trying to keep it under $1,000. I have about 100 parts to cut initially. after that I can upgrade or whatever. I understand duty cycles etc, just need something faster than a grinder. (cut a few, clean a few etc.)

I'd get a Miller or Lincoln... but The Chinese ones are probably OK too.   Check out Eastwood tools. http://search.eastwood.com/search?w=plasma

Me too.  Good box.  I have the older box, not the extreme.  It will make fast work of 1/8".

Last cut I made was 3/8" aluminum, about 12 feet of cuts.  I still have one more sheet to do.

Don't go cheap on a plasma cutter.  Cheapies will eat up their consumables and they will be expensive and hard to find.  The Miller seems to be quite easy on the consumables.

Hypertherm 1650 at work.  5'x10' CNC water table as well.

I'm running a longevity forcecut 40d.  Picked up a smokin hot deal off amazon.  I will admit it is a bit hard on consumables, but that might be the user too as I use it for gouging a lot.

I was going to snag the eastwood because I wanted cheap but couldnt get any tips for it. I ended up grabbing the lincoln plasma 20, I figured northern, lowes and home depot all carry it, so consumables should be easy to get for a while.

110 and a 25gal compressor so its easy to run anywhere.

Its not bad playing around on sheet metal, i wish I had a pilot arc though.

Gotta clean it up a bit, but its not too bad. I would take a thermaldyne any day, and it has its shortcomings, but it does what I need.

I had a hard time maintaining the arc and I need to get my pressure and amps dialed in.

Its my cousins art work, shes got a few other ones and I might modify some of them slightly, but all in all its a fun project.

I've had one for about 5 years now, and it works fine.  Mine is 110/220 volts and I use it in 220 mode almost every time.
You can get consumables for it on Ebay.
I've cut 1/16" stainless with it and had no problems.
For the money, it's a good machine.

I missed this or I would have suggested a Hypertherm PowerMax 30air

Love mine, works great and I can use it almost anywhere.
