Just had a 24' (roundish) above ground pool installed. Will be adding a deck of some sort in the next few weeks. I will solicit GD for opinions eventually, but thought I would start somewhere safe! Looking at maybe a 10ish by 20ish deck, no need for platform all the way around.

Any suggestions for constructions appreciated, but specifically, thoughts on:

- places to find general framing rules (post spacing, joist sizes, general construction stuff)

- on ground piers vs. buried concrete piers

- new decking materials vs. PT 5/4"

- screws vs. nails for decking

- any must do tricks, layout ideas, amenities you did or have seen

- helpful websites

Thanks for suggestions

Most of the diy stores have deck building tools.

Foundation type depends upon where you live.

Use screws for the deck planks.

Use good quality nuts and bolts for the main structure.  Use Simpson-Strong Ties in main structure.
