Expected between Aug 9 - Sept 13 |

I'll probably have to do some mods to keep the eye from overlapping and might need to bring down the brightness a bit. |

Maybe today I'll get to some stripping
Still not sure on the two columns and how I want to handle those. I'll probably try fake the look with some paint. It's worked in the past but this pattern is a bit different. |

I received a box this weekend.
No I'm not going to be a dick and be all DAY 1 up in this shit I know what this is. Main box a tad crushed but hey there is another box inside. What could it be? It's the new magic eye? Let's try this bitch out! NICE! Symmetrically a bit off as far as the left/right support shadows and the signal strength shadow but that may just be par for the course. Nice and green now. Remember before you could hardly see shit. |

Quoted: The other night I was checking things out, tapping around the face of the cabinet and heard a vibration. The shelf where the chassis sits has a block that should be glued to the face but was loose. I had to tackle that and make it right. Some glue and a 5 gallon water jug should do the trick http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b519/Edisla/IMG_3688_zpshslzkjw5.jpg View Quote |

Stripped the left side photo finish off.
Right side stripped. Starting to sand some things down. I tapped off one section of the photo finish. I wanted to keep a little bit so I can see it one last time before I start to mock it up with paint. Stripped the center columns as well. Found a couple splintered spots that needed gluing. The spots. That glue job I did up in the last post came loose as I was moving things around. I'll redo that later when I don't have to move it so much. More to come. |

That's some good looking veneer as it is man, I'm not so sure that you should try to recreate the original fakery in this case. Maybe use a one shade darker stain on those pieces at most and call it done? I honestly think that it will look killer as it is!

If I go no texture I'd still need to paint solid to make them even. Both are at least two pieces of wood and sections are not the same ratio...if that makes any sense. I'll get a pic of that so you can see what I mean. ETA: those columns are solid wood pieces btw and not veneer. |

OK, I see what you're talking about, but I still think the natural wood would look nice. It's your piece of course, and you have a preconception of what you want it to look like when it's finished, but I much prefer the look of the natural wood. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

This is the part that makes me phreak out a bit. It usually looks like shit then turns out pretty good.
I'm slowly working on it as I question every move. I think I'll wait to updates until I get it to where I am happy with it. Stay tuned. |

So I found some textured paint I thought I'd try.
After laying down the paint I blotted some stain on it to give it a faux look. Started to sand the columns as well as adding some darker paint to the top horizontal lines. Added decal. Not perfect but it will do. It will be hidden once the clear coat goes on. Grilles getting clear coated After clear coat. Need to add the grille. And this is what we ended up with |

Time for some new feet
old new Where the speaker sits was this silver ring. Not sure what it's all about but whatever. When I was cleaning off this board the paint flaked so I wanted to fix it up. I had no idea how I'd be able to mask that off so I took a look around. I then found something close enough :) This dish worked out pretty well. The section of tape missing is what I had moved over to the board to start masking things off. Ready to get old paint removed Paint removed ready for new Painted and tape removed So I took a closer look at the escutcheon lines and they certainly looked gold'ish. So it was time to fix that up a bit. Here is the original left overs. Close up after painting Mounted back on the cabinet. Not as good of a pic as I thought. |
