shower valve went bad.

I picked up a set of stamped sockets at home depot, over sized and rounded the nut. next day I went to lowes and I ended up with the same junk.

Im having a hard time finding a 27/32 deep well socket that is actually 27/32"

I cant get a bite on a shallow socket and cant get a wrench in the wall.

so, my options are

1 Find a quality 27/32 deep well socket.
2 Use a smaller socket, beat it on (risk damaging the pipes) and pull the valve then replace it.
3 Make a socket/tool to remove the valve
4 Strip the bathroom to the studs and joists and rebuild it. (only an option because I need/want to do it anyways)

Can you get enough angle to drive the nut with a punch?
All you usually need is to move it a tiny bit and it will spin off.

ETA

If you take an old hex key wrench you can grin a point onto the short arm, drive the point into the edge of the nut with the long arm parallel to the surface of the tile.
Tap on the bend to move the nut.
Use a SMALL hammer.

How about a metric socket? I've found some metric tools fit SAE fasteners better than the SAE sockets. A 27/32 socket is Snap-On or MAC tool territory. Probably won't find one at Home Depot.
