Hey guys, I am trying to install a timer in place of my current switch for the lights outside my house. The first picture is of the switch currently in the wall and the second picture is of the timer I am trying to put in. I really am stumped at what wires to put where from the new timer to the existing wiring to make it work. There are currently two switches that control the outside lights (both turn them all on/off) and this is where I would like to place the timer. Can anyone help?

Thanks a lot,

Adam

So the current one is a 3 way switch.  Does the timer come with directions about how to hook it up to an existing 3 way switch?

What is the manufacturer name and model number of the timer?

I do not see a simple way to connect a TIMER switch into a 2 switch circuit. If you put the time INSIDE the house, then the outside switch cannot activate the timer, if the timer goes OUTSIDE, thenyouncannot switch the circuit from inside.
stumped.

how OP expected ARFCOM to guess at where those wires went without ANY of the above information is a complete mystery to me.

the Intermatic ST01 astronomical timers that i use (well, i have three of them so far...) can work with a 3 way circuit.  see page 2, diagram 2 and/or diagram 3 at the third link below.

The switch you have appears to need a neutral.
The original switch does NOT have a neutral.
