Looks awesome

Is it just me or does the plumbing not line up with the tile?

Question
I have to raise the floor 3/4 of an inch to match the toilet flange.

Do I:

A Subfloor then Ditra and tile?

B Durock then tile?
Options???

ETA: After actually measuring, the flange s almost 1 1/2 inches above the sub floor

Have wood floor in the hallway I want to match up with.

The old floor under the carpet/linoleum was 3/4 particle board.

Do you plan on replacing all the shutoff valves and trim also?

As in condition wise?

Good (Cast iron)

I think I am going to remove it and replace it with a PVC flange.

Watched kind of a neat video on how to remove one.

I obviously dont want a huge transition between the bathroom floor and the hallway which

the way I am set up now, I will have that.

Id like to thank everyone for stopping in and commenting and offering help/advice too.

ETA: I cant get to the plumbing under the floor due to a finished ceiling under

the flange. Im not really wanting to create more for myself just yet.

Toilet flange is off

What I did is drilled 1/4 inch holes between the flange and pipe all the way around

I guess I didnt get a picture of that step

I was then able to remove the flange after some gentle love taps with the hammer

Cast pipe cut down

When caulking  tile, I use that blue painter's tape. I lay it on either side of the caulk line.
When done just pull the tape. A perfect, straight bead of caulk every time.

I noticed you put your flange at the level of your tile.  I've read so many contradictory statements about where it should be.  Many say it should be installed sitting on top of the finished floor, and many say it should be flush with the floor.  I'm about to install my own, and I'm curious what led you to choose the method you did, and did you have any issues with the toilet install?  Did you have to double up your wax rings or use a super-thick one?

There was no way to fasten the flange down if I put it above the tile

after I had to lower it from the previous subfloor.

No issues yet.......yet.
