THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I've currently got Malibu 50w halogen floods lighting some trees out front, and considering switching to the LED for less heat output. The halogens get very hot. |

Switching to LED bulbs in the existing fixtures or switching to new LED bulbs and fixtures?
Similar question from me - but would only be interested in replacing the bulbs. |

I have switched over to LEDs on a couple spotlights I had. I thik there are 12 LEDs per light so they are super bright.
zero heat and now the transformer stays on all the time, before it would over heat and shut down. I also picked up one of the mr16 replacement LEd colorchanging bulbs for a waterfall highlight on my pond the thing oly costs about 10 bucks and works great. It came with a remote control so you can switch from a single color to fading colors and even has a dimmer feature. it has been on almost non stop for 3 months now. (I'm using an old 12volt pool light transformer for it) MR16 colorchanging LED bulb with remote this is the same one I bought for the waterfall and the same amzon vendor he ships pretty fast too! |

Although LED fixtures do not get hot to the touch when they are on, their circuity is temperature sensitive. The LED fixture acts as a heat sink.

I'll pick up an LED flood later today if I can, and try to get a side by side view/photo with the halogen this evening. That is if I get the half a tree that came down in my back yard yesterday squared away first.
