Any info on where to read up on this? What kind of tank to buy, ect.
I searched the interwebz and found nothing useful.
Any input appreciated. I have a feeling I'll just buy one, but I'm a cheap bastard.

ETA: The guy I spoke to at the local well company that has a good reputaion, basically told me that they order their own filter bottles and mix their own calcite, blended with sand.
I'm sure there's nothing he's doing that I can't do, but I'm almost equally sure that I can't do it for enough less to justify doing it myself.

if you go cheap and get something off the internet and try to do it yourself, you might have more problems then will be worth your trouble. You will get fed up with not knowing why its not working or why its stuck in backwash, backwashing at the wrong time, clogged because you blew media into the head by mistake, clogged your plumbing because of the same, not working at all because you went cheap and got too small of a unit to have enough contact time to treat the water, not working because you went cheap and got a non backwashable upflow unit without an electronic head and since it doesnt backwash to clean itself gets clogged and has to be dumped and rebedded every year, or just iritated that the media has to be topped off every six months.

This is not always the case, some folks are very capable, but most of the time the thing will get yanked out of line and wind up collecting dust in the basement corner. When it comes to filtration it pays to have a product from a company that will back it if you have a problem. Many times there are conditions unique to each residence and that means there is often not a one size fits all solution. Your best bet is to contact someone competent that can offer quick local dealer support. Unfortunately on the other side of the coin 7 of 10 filtration instalers seem to be barely able to tie their shoes or just out to fuck you, so you have to watch out there too.

What are the test reults for the water?
