THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I have a Pegasus kitchen faucet that is about 5 years old. It has the single handle with the pull out sprayer, it is called a disc style. A few months ago I noticed the pressure was getting weak so I started tinkering and I have made it worse and can't get it even back where it was 3 months ago. Now when I turn it on all the way the water pressure is poor, but after a few seconds it drops down to where it would take a minute to fill up a glass of water. However, if I turn it on very slowly there is a sweet spot about 1/2 on where the water pressure will maintain the initial water level, but nowhere near where it has been for the past 5 years.

Here is the list of things I have done so far:
I have taken it apart several times, everything from the handle assembly to the cartridge assembly.
Disconnected the lines to the faucet and turned the valves on in a bucket and water pressure is good at both hot and cold so I can rule out the supply to the faucet.
Took it apart and replaced aerator, after I did this it was back to normal for about a month then worse than before.
Took apart again, checked aerator for blockage and I'm good there, removed spray arm assembly and turned on water it does the same thing so it is not aerator or spray arm assembly

My conclusion is it has to be the cartridge assembly or something between the spray arm and supply line. Maybe I put the cartridge assembly back together wrong when I reassembled it, but I have taken it apart a dozen times since and tried different things and it hasn't helped.

Any ideas before I go buy a new faucet?

Replace the cartridge? They're a lot cheaper than a whole faucet...

Pull the cartridge, then open the stop valve to blow out any debris. (this will get messy)

also inspect the cartridge to insure the ceramic disc moves fully .

a new cartridge may be in order,

When you say open the stop valve, do you mean to turn on the water supply valves when the cartridge is removed? I might try this tonight as a last resort. I went to Lowes and Home Depot and picked up a couple cartridges but both leak when installed. They look very similar, but there must be some minor differences that don't work in mine. I can't find a model number and don't have the manual so I haven't been able to find the cartridge online anywhere either. I have emailed Pegasus twice over the past couple weeks trying to get a model number with no response. I know not to buy a Pegasus brand anything again.

Yes, the stp valves are the valves under the sink. I usually try to hold a glass, upside down, over the opening the valve came out of.

Pegasus is one of many names for a Chinese faucet company, if it comes to it, stick with Delta, Moen, Kohler, or even Price Pfister, and American Standard, (in that order IMHO) if you have to replace it.

Yup. Pegasus is homedepots "house" brand of higher end faucets similar to glacer bay (low end). Probably the same company makes them both HD carries some replacment parts for the pegasus valves but not many. I have heard that you can order parts online (from pegasus) never tried it though.

If you replace it my favorites in order are Kohler, Delta, moen, price phisher, and American standard. Be aware that even the top end faucets need their valves replaced every so often. So DO NOT forget to register them with the manufacturer for the warranty. Im not sure about the details of the lesser three. But kohler and moen have lifetime replacement of the valves. Basicly call them up and they will ship you a replacement valve for free.

Shit if you remember to do it call them after a year and say that the valve stopped working (will not put out hot water, classic moen prob.) and have them send you a replacement valve to keep in the tool box for when it does actually go out.

I have Moen in my house... 3 or 4 years ago, the cartridge started leaking in the bathtub. (It wouldn't shut off completely.) I went to Home Depot and bought a Chinese replacement part. About 3 months later, it started leaking again.

I called Moen to order a "real" Moen part and they sent it to me for free. Hasn't leaked since.

My faucet did the same thing and mine ended up being when I attached the water feed line back to the faucet I over tightened the line and twisted the copper line feeding up into the faucet. The faucet had to be replaced.

The higher end plastic feed lines sometimes have a "safety valve" that trips when the flow is over a certain point. (Yes, inside the flexible feed line, BEFORE the water gets to the faucet.)

It's possible that has failed and is restricting water flow. Or it was partially "tripped".

They DO NOT reset until the water has been shut off at the house-wide point and then pressure from the line drained.

I might just replace that part to see if that helps anything. They are only a couple of bucks, and if it turns out to be the faucet is just plain bad, you'll want a new one anyway. The safety valve is a nice feature to have, if someone or something smashes the faucet apart it will prevent flooding. In trade, you have to remember the reset procedure and can't run the faucet without an aerator restricting the flow to below the threshold.

While you are under there, attach the new line to the feed, then turn the water on and test the flow out of the pipe. That will help rule in or out the faucet as the problem.

I have the same issue with my Moen Pull out kitchen faucet.

Make sure the flexible hoses that attaches to the handle under the sink is not twisted/kinked.

Delta, Moen, Kohler, or even Price Pfister

And not the low end ones they sell in the big box stores.

They are NOT the same.

Start at the spray head and work your way back upstream to find where the flow is being restricted, then eliminate the restriction.

buy a delta off ebay.

we had a "UBS" brand faucet in our kitchen, sucked. had horrible pressure. i bought a delta unit from ebay (some sort of contractor return, home owner didn't like it) works like a champ.
