THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Lately when I am pushing the mower forward and stop abruptly and/or back up, the engine power will drop and threaten to stall. When the engine is cold it sort of revs up & down for the first fifteen minutes or so. The plug was changed last spring along with the air filter. Added some oil today since it was low. Thought I noticed some rust in the gas tank, but could not be positive about that. Also the wheels are getting quite wobbly, but it seems like the nut on the end of the axle(?) is tight. Do these plastic wheels eventually just wear out? EDIT: Worn out carburetor diaphragm was the problem. |

The wheels do wear out over time and if it is not a self propelled mower you might find some at the box-store that will fit. If it is then you may need to find a shop to get them from. Is your gas fresh?

Blow the grass out of the air filter.

The gas was a bit old, but I filled up with fresh today. I'm going to get a new plug and air filter and see where that gets me.

If its that old no telling what has gotten in the carb . Remove air cleaner , there should be a plastic back plate remove that and it should allow easier access to bottom of carb. Remove nut from bottom clean bowl and spray gum out all over . Reverse process , you do not have to take carb off to clean just drop the bowl .
Also drain fuel from tank shine a light inside to see if anything else in there , many times moving mower back and forth will move debris floating around to block fuel and cause running issues .... Good luck |

Clean out the fuel tank and then remove the carb and clean it out.

Worn out carburetor diaphragm was the culprit. This youtube video showed me how to fix it:
