uhhhhh.....I know Jim
You are wrong He is as conservative as they come. He also is realistic in terms of the impact of this next election. Before you reply....I am a resisdent of SC.....voted for Jim....and I voted for Ron Paul in the SC Primary. Ron Paul will NEVER will. He cannot get above 10% in his own party for god's sake. What destroys Paul is the following: His lack of personality His lack of charisma His foreign policy views I fail to see why you feel the need to ad Demint to a discussion that you turned into a Ron Paul thread. Jim is a great guy....check his voting record |

I posted a link about Jim DeMint and his new found love for the constitution and MENTIONED Ron Paul. You are the one trying to make this a Ron Paul thread, probably because defending Jim DeMints record is a daunting task. Perhaps instead of YOU trying to turn this thread into a "Ron Paul is unelectable" thread, you try to explain to me how you can call DeMint a true conservative when he voted to raise the debt ceiling FOUR TIMES. I can't wait to hear it. |

Is this a joke? Thats not his job. If you want to carry Ben Bernake's water and defend the Fed, bring it. |

Republican super hero according to this. Few of the votes are worrisome if anyone wants to read through them. But as far as the issues that matter most to republicans he's gold. |

You're welcome to go to congres's website, check his record and confirm that's it's accurately represented, then explain how the "true conservative" title gets put on someone who voted to raise the debt ceiling 4 times (amongst other atrocious votes). I'm sure he may have been the best choice on your ballot. It's not like I'm telling people to vote democrat, I'm trying to hold conservatives accountable. People aren't going to hear this from Fox News. |

We gave republicans complete control of government for 4 years and they showed their true colors and grew government on nearly every front. We can't afford to be complacent and vote for republicans just because they aren't democrats anymore. The situation is too dire. If they do the same things as democrats do when in power, we've gotten nowhere. I hope DeMints new found love for the constitution reverses some of his past tendencies. Critiques like this article keep politicians honest (relatively speaking) because it's lets them know we are paying attention. |

I understand. I share some of your concerns. The big picture is overshadowed by the trivial, petty arguments most of the time. I think we need our financial house in order above all else. Others see programs as being more important. I just wonder how we can continue on growing this massive debt. Our biggest industries are being sold to foreign conglomerates and we're focused on gay marriage. Our politicians are on the take on every level and we're focused on global warming. I think a lot of people are starting to notice the patterns of how our government works. And how we are lied to on a daily basis. It's good to see people looking for change.
One vote that I noticed was one to allow congressional gifts from lobbyist. I thought that was special. Maybe we can argue these guys are like preachers and they deserve a much higher standard of living. After all they are doing the lords work, right? |

The only 'Conservatives' I trust to run this country are the Classic Liberals that wrote the documents and they've all passed on. All we have now are Federalists in two seperate parties.
We'll see the end of one of two things in the next decade, either teh current parties we have or all out civil liberties. Low approval ratings will be fighting against laws such as the indeterminant detention of the NDAA and the citizenship stripping of the EEA (which needs to die a quick death in the Judicial Committee it currently sits in). |
