everything is pointing me to the bose ones but my wallet.

I would like to stick to over the ear and not in ear. Are there any decent performing alternatives for under $100?

Blue Parrot, if only over one ear is okay. I was on a job site
next to train tracks. Train rolls by loud as hell. The person on
the other end could not hear the train due to noise cancellation.
Best bluetooth headset I have ever owned.

I want them to be multi purpose - so not only take calls but also use for watching movies on my mac, listening to music, etc.

You get what you pay for with NC bluetooth headphones. I would honestly save and purchase a set of Bose CC35's. Best headphones in the category i've ever had. Bought them with my credit card points, so I didnt "pay" anything for them, maybe you could do the same?
