I only wish the combat scenes were more believable.

I just finished watching it. The battle scenes on Okinawa put SPR to shame. Desmond Doss had balls of blue steel to do what he did on that ridge.

Great movie.

Nominated for a couple of Oscars.

I just might have a reason to watch the Awards.

A couple? There's 6. Including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director.

Nice.
I guess Hollywood ain't mad at Gibson anymore.

Either that or they're embracing the film's anti-gun message.

it was good, I did not watch the documentary about it. I read a story about a German medic who during a battle vs the Soviets hauled back a bunch of wounded but do not think it was close to the amount this guy did.  He also could throw the stick grenades pretty far so they would ask him to lob them over as well.

The man was absolutely incredible.

I don't remember his name but the "gung ho" guy who picked up the dead guys torso and used it as a shield was cringe worthy to me. Not because of the gore but because it didn't seem to fit in this caliber of a movie. Other than that I really liked it.

During the battle, Doss (seen here at the top of Hacksaw Ridge) dragged severely injured men to the edge of the ridge and lowered them down to other medics below.

I finally got a chance to watch it.  A+

Great Atmos sound track.  Best use of pinpoint bullet effects yet.  The battle scenes were literally ping ponging back and forth on the overhead speakers.  Gave the subs a workout, too.

Not the best use of HDR but that's to be expected on a gritty war flick where most of the palettes are earth tones.  Nice resolution in 4K though.

Couple parts where I cringed with over the top effects but those are minor quibbles.  Im still not buying Vince Vaughn as a Sgt though.

I bought it and will definitely watch it again many times.
