Finally got around to watching it-very entertaining and funny, and Margot Robbie explaining mortgage backed securities in a bubble bath is extremely not guilty.

I thought it was very good.  We all know Hollywood is full of shit so I wonder how accurate it is.

I just watched it on a plane....without a headset....looked interesting....but let me guess...they complete whitewash or entirely leave out the huge role the CRA and HUD had in the whole thing?

Make it out to be all the fault of the bankers and hedge fund guys?

If so, I wouldn't be surprised....liberal Hollywood leaving out the crucial part of the story....

Still going to buy it to watch for real....

I think they mentioned it for about 5 secs in one scene, IIRC.

Of course the eventual protagonist who ends up super rich is made out to be the SJW to rule all SJW's.

I don't know anything about all the finance stuff they were talking about but I got the gist of it.  It was a pretty good movie.

There are a couple articles out there that debunk the premise behind the movie.

I'll skip it since Hollywood rarely gets these stories right.

And the real reason behind it all is Andrew Cuomo, the HUD, and the CRA (Community Re-Investment Act)...without those, and the gov making banks stop "red lining", there wouldn't have been a massive amount of junk mortgages to bundle, thus no way for smart guys to take advantage of the situation.

The movie was pretty good. I enjoyed it.

Michael Lewis' book is even better. A very good and very fast read. Highly recommended.
