Last I heard, Disney was going ahead with a Tron 3... but Tomorrowland failed so hard it sucked in other movies with it.

Damn. I remember seeing the first one as a kid. I kind of liked Tron 2, but not many other people that I know did...

It took a long time to make the 2nd movie.
A third will be made, just hope it's sooner than later. |

I liked the sequel so much I bought it on Bluray.
I've never seen the original Tron (I thought it was dorky). |

Tron 3 is dead for all announced purposes. It was on and off so many times, last official off caused Bruce Boxlienter to say enough is enough of being jerked around and even if they finally decided to try he is no longer interested in it, and he had been pretty strong about getting a third one done if it came along.
Considering when the first came out it was pretty cool. Kind of hokey looking at it now but it does give a basis.
