Hey, guys, I'm involved in a debate with some movie reviewers who were looking at an obscure 80s film, The Monster Squad.  They were expressing surprise that the kids in that film use a gun/guns to fight the monsters.  Granted the reviewers aren't Americans, but I'm trying to make the case that pre-Columbine it wasn't that THAT rare and wouldn't have had people up in arms for a kid to have to use a gun in a film.  Can you guys think of any other films where a kid uses a gun?  And I'm not talking about After School Special type films where it's a cautionary tale about a kid who shoots himself/herself or a friend.

The two I came up with so far are:

Stand By Me
Cloak and Dagger

Obviously there's Red Dawn, but the kids in that movie are pretty much adults.

Any others?

The Scooter kid from Buckaroo Banzai.
"Get away from that car or I'll drink your blood! "

Red Dawn was all high school students.

Hardly an example of positive firearm use by minors, though.

Canadian film called "I Declare War"

Well, it's a little unusual in that the guns are actually sticks and other toys, but in the minds of the kids they become real guns, and actual guns are used in the filming to show what the kids are imagining. So they are carrying sticks in one shot and actual guns in the next.

They don't actually shoot it, but in "Secondhand Lions" two kids arm themselves with a Garand when they go hunting the lion.

In "October Sky" a couple of high schoolers get fed up with their POS car and shoot it with a .22 rifle.

Not a movie, but Netflix's Strange Things has kids with guns in a not negative way.

Outside of the pistol used by the dad in the beginning, I thought they used improvised weapons?

Tomorrow Before the War Began, the Australian version of Red Dawn. Also, in the movie version of My Side of the Mountain, didn't the kid have a rifle that he was taking game with? I think he did in the book. It's been a long time since I have seen it. It's in my queue on Netflix, but I haven't gotten a chance to watch it.
