Just watched the first episode last night - They better be making more episodes.

Very interesting take on the PKD story (for what it's worth, The Man in The High Castle is one of my favorite things he ever wrote in a catalog of works that is exemplary).

For those that haven't read the book, it's a sci fi alternative history where the Axis won WWII.  PKD wrote it in 1963, and while it didn't break the ground on alternative history (HG Wells invented that concept in The Time Machine) it set the standard others follow.  If you haven't read any PKD, I can almost guarantee you've watched his stories turned into movies:  Running Man, Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, the Adjustment Bureau, and the list goes on and on (which is sad, because he lived and died not having gained much financially by his talent).

If you have Prime, it's worth a watch.

I watched it twice.  Has the making for a great series.

The series did get the green light from Amazon, and is coming.  Stay tuned.

I began reeding the book awhile back.  I read a couple chapters into it so far, up to the point they are discussing the book.  I have to find a less distracting day to read more.

In the past, I've read several PKD's works.  There was a 5 volume anthology of his short stories released in the 1990's.  I have 3 of the 5 volumes.  You can see how his writing evolves over time, and how the singular ideas of his short stories get mashed together to make novels.  Some of his works are well thought out, while others he openly admits were made solely for the purpose of paying the rent or another payment was due.

It has been chosen for production. Last i checked it was in filming and will be released some time during 2016.

I watched it twice on my own and then again with my brother. It looks like its going to be AWESOME!

Holy crap, are the new episodes ever worth the wait.

I am, quite frankly, flat out still in shock that uber-liberal Amazon would put out such an excellent adaptation of this storyline while their CEO's favorite president is exercising such a neo-fascist agenda, but regardless of source this is simply outstandingly done, thought provoking, and absolutely great to watch.  If Atlas Shrugged were produced, directed, and acted with this kind of care, I don't know that it could be this fantastic.  It is just great work.

I am a sci fi geek. No point in hiding that.  But any student of history who does not want to see repeats of the worst of humanity should absolutely watch this.

I was surprised Amazon ran an ad that made the Nazi alternative look good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pjs8xVaAC98

Also nazi-esque subway seats in NYC:

Do you have to have an Amazon Prime subscription or can you just buy the season off Amazon?

I just looked and could not see a way to buy it.  Prime streaming only at the moment it seems.

I'm about halfway through Season 2.  Good program, but I'll be damned if I know why I like it.

And as if I'm not befuddled enough, the damn minister's visions or dreams or what-the-fuck-they-are confuse me even more.

Started watching it this week.

I will say that the intro/theme creeps me out and is really unsettling. The way they superimposed war footage and Nazi symbology over American icons,  the way Edelweiss is sung slightly off key... It actually makes me feel sick inside for some reason and I get the same feeling each time I watch the intro. I think the idea of the allies losing WWII is really that terrifying.

The only thing I don't really buy so far is that only 20 or so years after losing the war,  Americans are so thoroughly crushed spiritually that we have so readily adopted Nazi and Japanese cultural rule over our country.

I also find myself wondering what else is going on in the rest of the world. Did the Nazis conquer to USSR? What happened to the UK and Europe?

I know this is an adaptation of a PKD book so not all of these questions may be answered.
