Our front living/dining room transformation is
complete for now. We had it as a formal living/dining initially, then got rid of all the furniture and put a pool table in it. Then no one was using the pool table, so we changed it up... Before:  After (with new carpet):  My new 70" 4K TV, Onkyo A/V receiver, Infinity Primus L/R, and Yamaha center channel, Sony rears, and a Ultimate 10" powered sub:  Our new bad-ass couch from Haverty's. Each seating position is 39" wide and reclines. Heaven.   It's modest system, but I'm very happy with it so far. |

Very nice. You need more sub(s).
You did well and I have TV envy. I got my TV about 4.5 years ago, so it's only a 52." It's a Sony XBR 9, which was one of the better TVs available in early 2010.

TVs have gotten crazy cheap. My first flatscreen was a 50" plasma that went for $2500. It dropped to $1700 after 6 months. This one (Vizio P702) was also $2450, but I already got them to price match it to $1988 when it got cheaper right before Thanksgiving.
 I'm happy with the 70" Vizio, but I like the plasma colors a little better. I also wonder if I should have gotten an 80" non-4K, but it's too late now. |

If you really want to get in trouble (maybe not as badly as on this site), then visit audioholics.com. That place will help you spend your $$$, too. It's also pretty informative. People on the forum directed me to some good deals and now I have a Focal speaker system (except for the sub). I "only" spent about $1700 on the speakers (less the sub) instead of around $2400.
I'm good for a while, but want another sub or a larger and more powerful one. After that, I'll probably get a newer an bigger TV. Of course that will all come after a 308 AR and some optics. So many toys. So little time and $$$. |

I've heard that the Primus speakers are one of the best bangs for the buck ever. How do you like them? I know you said you're happy with the setup. |

My Onkyo auto-setup detected them being able to go down to 40Hz. At $100/each from Amazon, I can't imagine getting something much better. I have tinnitus anyway, so my money would be wasted on a high-end speaker. I'm no audio snob at all. |

I forgot to mention that I have (3) 80mm and (1) 120mm cooling fans in the back of the cabinet running off of a thermostat/fan controller.

And one more thing: In order to offload some of the devices on my WiFi network, I went with a powerline network adapter and wired switch.

I hooked up my laptop via ethernet cable and ran a speedtest; I got full throughput with no dips throughout the entire test. The 5 port switch is equally small and connects the Dish receiver, TV, and my son's old PS3. |

I guess the marketing guy didn't excel in English but the sound quality of their subs is awesome. I am running a pair of PB 2000s and have 2 more PC 20-39+ I have to hookup. The low end is awesome.

It's very difficult to get rear speakers in that room. The only option would be to put them on tall speaker stands and I'm not enthused about that idea.
Have you heard about Dolby Atmos? |

I could put the two rear speakers on stands and put them just behind the couch. That would be pretty straightforward.

When you are watching movies with action you will. Just more speakers for the sound to move across. If you have some old cheap speakers, set them up and give it a try. My system is a 7.2 Yamaha system. They call the speakers front, center, surround and surround back. I can add presence speaker up front and run 11 speakers using my zone 2 output. Like a 9.2 system but without the cost of one. I had an old 3 channel Yamaha DSP before that ran the center and rear effect speaker and my integrated amp ran the mains for a 5.0 system. Not bad when I used it but a pain to balance the sound and when I moved i really never set it up again cause it was a pain. Just the 3 chan DSP cost more than my new 7.2 AV receiver that took the place of three components. |
