I have an aquos 42". While I think Sharp is a better brand, I don't think you are going to miss out on much spending a little less on a Vizio. I think they have came a long way in terms of quality in the past few years.

Just bought a Sharp. I will never by another Vizio. The previous one had major volume issues. It would randomly spike in volume even during the same shows. But it was ridiculous when commercials come on.

When I was researching tvs the Vizios got great reviews at first (great value) - but the more i read the more 'issues' they had 2 to 3 yrs after purchase.. |

I really like my Aquos, if I get another TV, it will be an Aquos. I don't have too much experience with large Vizio flat screens, the small ones seem to work OK.
Sony's are good too. Samsungs are OK, but my friend has a 60" or so 3d Samsung that is so sharp that it sort of ruins the picture. Feature films look more like high rez video than film = cold and overly sharp and everything is in clear focus. Films should look warm, smooth with a nice depth of field/focus. |

I just purchased a TV after a good bit of research as I was going for something cheap that wouldn't let me down I came to the conclusion that Vizio wasn't worth the risk. There are lots of reports of them crapping out shortly after warranty especially on the AVS forums. Ended up with a Sony 40" that I've been very happy with so far.
