Civil War, it was pretty good. I don't think it was the best one, but one of the better Marvel movies. The lack of characters was part of the problem.

Been Watching Turn, Containment, Fear the Walking Dead, Criminal Minds and Vikings and Alone. for TV shows.  Turn and Vikings has been the best out of these so far.

might check out the nice guys this week, or go to a reshowing of the Lost Boys.

Deadpool was funny as hell. They kept cutting the budget and still made a pretty good flick.

The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog - 1927
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock

From Wikipedia:
The Lodger introduced themes that would run through much of Hitchcock's later work: the innocent man on the run, hunted down by a self-righteous society, and a fetishistic sexuality. Hitchcock had clearly been watching contemporary films by Murnau and Lang,  whose influence can be seen in the ominous camera angles and claustrophobic lighting. While Hitchcock had made two previous films, in later years the director would refer to The Lodger as the first true "Hitchcock film".  Beginning with The Lodger, Hitchcock helped shape the modern-day thriller genre in film.

Metropolis - 1927
Directed by Fritz Lang.
The version I watched is the most recent and complete restoration released in 2010.  It's brilliant.

The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry - 1945
Directed by Robert Siodmak.  One of the best directors of the classic Film Noir era.
Very understated.  Very creepy.  Very good.  Worth seeking out.

Murder at the Vanities - 1934  Silly pre-code romp
Lot's of scantily clad showgirls and Broadway numbers.  Somewhere in the movie there's a plot.

10 Cloverfield Lane

a woman awakens after a car wreck to find herself in a doomsday bunker with 2 other people.

She is told there has been an attack on the USA and the air could be contaminated, so they can not leave the bunker for maybe 1-2 yrs.

This was a decent psychological thriller of a Twilight Zone/ Stephen King style, but I thought the ending was a little weak.

stars John Goodman as the doomsday prepper

"A riveting, hold-your-breath, ticking time bomb of a movie!"

No....just, no.  Decent cast, really bad acting, bad pacing, bad almost everything.  The first scene is pretty well done - a suicide bombing attack on a US compound in Riyadh.  Seemed like a pretty accurate depiction of the kind of carnage that would result.

Then, in another scene, those three are in the middle of a street, fighting out of a disabled SUV (no armor) with a dozen jihadists firing full-auto weapons and RPG's at them from elevated positions in the buildings surrounding them.  They come out unscathed.  I was

Joy

about the housewife that invents a self wringing mop,

takes it to a young QVC and creates a very successful household product inventions business.

it was an OK drama.  Her family is a dysfunctional mess, and she has little to no business experience.

stars Jennifer Lawrence

The Saga of Gosta Berling - 1924.  Swedish silent soap opera.
This was the movie that got Greta Garbo noticed.
This movie is good but long.  A tick over three hours.
