A horrible movie that was somewhat enjoyable to watch.

Arrival

sci fi story about alien spaceships coming to earth and how humans deal with it.

It was well done, the storyline was a head scratcher that takes a some thinking to figure out.

stars Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner

Life

sci fi thriller, I thought was good

The International Space Station captures a probe returning to Earth from Mars.
The samples from the probe have a life form that threatens the crew of the ISS

The mission commander and the Japanese astronaut both fucked up royally on an incomprehensible scale.

"Cave" on Netflix.

Norwegian thriller poorly dubbed into english, with no real plot and horrendous dialog.  Watched the whole 80 minutes hoping it would get better.

It didn't

Watching Season one of The Fugitive in order.
One of the finest TV shows in history.  It still holds up today.

The Marine 5 the Miz can never be taken seriously as an action hero more suited for goofy comedies.

The ST Beyond thread in GD made me dig out an actual DVD and watch it.
It reminds me of a very high quality Star Trek TV episode.
I liked it.

Matchstick Men

Nicholas Cage plays a con artist, (w/OCD), who learns he has a teenage daughter he has never met.

Cage's character tries to get to know his daughter with all the complications it brings.

I thought it was one of Nick Cage's better movies.  Directed by Ridley Scott.

Saw City of Ghosts last Saturday. City of Ghosts Excellent doco of amateur reporters trying to get the word out about the ISIS occupation of Raqqa, Syria. There was a Q and A with the director Matthew Heineman afterward.

And also Baby Driver Friday a week ago. Two thumbs up.

Hero
Sam Elliott
little bit of an artsy low distribution film that's in the local artsy theatre this week.
Elliott is a washed up Hollywood Western actor known for a single role 40 years ago.

Death Wish 3

the production values are about B movie levels, but
it's always satisfying to see Charles Bronson kick ass.

I go to a couple of movies a year there. They do have the occasional good film that never hits the multiplex.
Their popcorn is great as well.....

Yes.  Several times.  It didn't make sense the first time or the fifth time in the 70's  It didn't make sense last week.
It is regarded as one of the grossest movies ever made.

Put my entire Star Trek library on shuffle.
Currently watching Shakespeare in Space Star Trek TNG se4 ep 17 "Night Terrors"
Another fine example of why Deanna Troi should become Ship's Stripper or be shoved out of an airlock.

The Accountant

Great movie. Can't say too much without spoiling it, but not only is there action, there is some emotional feel-good shit that can pull the left towards the right.

Westworld, saw the first episode last night when GOT would not work and HBO was free.

Ended up buying HBO just to finish it, about to start episode 2.
