Captain Fantastic

The Founder

Michael Keaton plays Ray Kroc, the man who spread a little hamburger stand owned by the McDonald brothers nationwide.  In the beginning of the film you're rooting for Kroc to succeed, by the end of the movie your feelings
toward the man may have changed.

It was a very well done drama, you'll see how McDonald's changed the fast food industry

The Tunnel on Prime

Pretty solid murder/mystery/conspiracy/terrorism miniseries. Body is found on the on the exact halfway point of between the UK and France in a service tunnel for the train tunnel underneath the the English Channel. A salty old Brit detective teams up with an emotionless female French cop to solve the case.

Skull Island   it was a lot better than I was expecting it to be.

Ghost in The Shell - it was really good, followed the first animated movie a lot.

Monte Walsh - decent cowboy movie

Last Stand at Saber River - another decent cowboy flick again with Tom Selleck.

Brimstone.

Wow, what a fucked up movie that was. Hard to watch at times.

I think it would have been much better had they tied the story together better.  I don't mind when a timeline jumps around (actually like it) but certain parts just needed to be cleaned up a bit.

Both Dakota Fanning and Guy Pearce were excellent.  There are scenes that Im honestly not sure how Guy was able to shoot.

The Founder.

Very entertaining movie.  Not totally accurate but no movies ever are.  I think the casting made it.  They could have cast a lot of other people as Ray and it probably would have flopped.  Keaton nailed it.

I have a new level of appreciation (and disdain) for Ray Kroc.

Going my way

1944

Bing Crosby. Very nice movie.

My son and I are on a quest to watch every Best Picture-Oscar winning movie.  It is actually quite fun, and a nice quick way to pick a movie.  We have been enjoying the older movies the most.

Sicario (2015)

Just watched this the other day, surprised I hadn't heard of the film before. Really picks you up in the first ten minutes. Has a tense feeling throughout the film, thanks to a great soundtrack, visuals, and acting. Also has some great action scenes; Benicio Del Toro really stands out in perhaps my favorite performance from him so far.

Also been re-watching Criminal Minds. Not much of a TV show viewer but I can tell that the show has dramatically changed through the years.

Meh .  Zombies overrun a military research facility using infected little kids to find a cure.

A small group of survivors make a run for it trying to reach other survivor facilities.

Lion

based on a true story
A young Indian man, adopted by an Aussie couple at the age of 5, tries to find his birth mother.
a very good drama,
telling the story of how he became lost, adopted, and then 20 years later, the journey to find his biological family.

Gold

The fictionalized movie version of a true story about the Bre-X fraud.  A massive, multibillion dollar scandal around a fake gold mine in Indonesia.  I guess they couldn't get the rights to that story from the journalists so the producers just changed some details.  Pretty good. Matthew McConaughey is in it as the lead character.

Live by Night

Ben Affleck's politically correct gangster movie about an Irish thief who goes to work for the Italian mob at their Tampa, FL operation in the late 20's.  It was ok.

Post-apocalyptic cgi nonsense.
