THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I've posted in the survival forum about a movie I'm working on called Remnants. The basic synopsis is how ordinary people survive when the modern conveniences we rely upon go away (in this case a magnetar takes out all electrictronics - kind of like a global EMP strike). I'm the exec producer, technical advisor and a few other roles (including bit part actor unfortunately), and can answer just about any questions you may have. It struck me that the movie forum may be a good place to post about a movie made by an ARFCOM member. We have the support of the Avila's and the ar15.com staff, and think the movie is consistent with the message we as a site might support. Heck - it may even be entertaining to some of you! Edited to include additional information and photos here. Thank you for the tack!! We obviously have some character build-up in the beginning. In these scenes Art (Robert Pralgo) and Gwen (Vanelle) debate some of the changes to the neighborhood once they adapted to their new way of life.
In this segment, we also start seeing the neighbors encounter some "outsiders" (I'm leaving off spoilers / background on purpose).
First venture out of the neighborhood. Looks like everyone hasn't fared as well as them.
Again - one of our first glimpses of outside the neighborhood, and the desperation shown by those who didn't prepare.
A hint about what happens to those who wander amongst those less fortunate.
A scouting party returned one member short. A search party is being organized in this scene.
Here's a few hints of the gear we use.
Lastly, here's a minor update from last month's shoot. We released some new stills as promised, although I'm afraid I can't give a lot of background on what they're about without spoiling the plot.
We just completed a few HUGE stunt scenes along with a lot of other work over the weekend. We have a mid-month shoot scheduled, and the RANGE DAY at the end of the month. You guys are going to love what I have cooked up for range day As always, thank you all for the support. Keep the questions coming if you have any! - Travis Remnants homepage Remnants imdb page Remnants Facebook page

Hell it's got to be better than Cloverfield or Skyline. |

I seem to remember this movie being talked about several months ago, when it's due to be released? I'll keep an eye out for it.

One more teaser - yours truly gearing up for a stunt. Still covered in bruises from what happens about 5 minutes after this picture, but that's all I'm going to say about that!

All - new trailer is up! Click here for youtube version. This trailer is all new material, and should give you a lot of hints about things that happen. Hopefully there's enough to gain your attention - some AR night shooting, a little car crash..... hint: if you look carefully at the reverse car crash, you'll see a head in the last frame
Also, we kicked off our new kickstarter page. The movie is funded. The kickstarter allows you to pre-purchase the movie and get some extra stuff that won't be available after it's released. I'm not pimping anything, but a bunch of you have been pinging me for this link once it becomes available. I can pull the link if anybody prefers it not be here. I'll add new stills as we release them, of course! - Travis |

As promised, following are some new stills from the movie! We're going to try to release a new batch of stills about once a month, so this is our May update.
Our hero MERL with a Barrett M82 preparing to distribute some pain.
One of our rogues (played by Chris Houldsworth) sporting a Fiskars axe. He may even end up using it! Thanks for the recommendations on the Fiskars, SF - I got mine based on reviews here, and really like it.
MERL taking on several assailants with a Cold Steel tanto.
ART (played by Rob Pralgo) catching one of the outsiders stealing food.
One of the rogues (played by Terry) sporting a blood covered Wetterlings after a raid on the good guys. Again - thanks for the reviews here. The wetterlings have worked out great, although they're a little beat up from the movie and I'm afraid to carry blood-covered hatchets in my car now
Lastly, while not a sales pitch - the last opportunity to pre-purchase the movie (and be a part of the credits, get t shirts, autographed memorabilia, etc.) ends in just 9 days! Just follow the Kickstarter link if you want to get in on the action. Remnants homepage Remnants imdb page Remnants Facebook page

The post-production process involves editing, potentially finding pick-up shots you have to bring people back to film, then back to editing, leadership team review and feedback along the way, etc. It's hard to nail down an iterative process too much. We have people focused full-time on the process, so it's not something that's going to take 6+ months. Believe me - I will post here as soon as I know!! |
