I have to admit, I have long felt the calling to the ministry.  I started as a Youth Leader in 2004, did a ministry internship in youth ministry in 2007, and was licensed as a minister in state of Virginia in 2008.  I spent some time as a youth pastor.  Did a lot of pulpit supply along the years, and even some interim pastor work.  Now I find my ministry in a new chapter, and I'm thrilled.  It's a humbling experience. I just needed to share some thoughts.  thanks for reading

Congrats!

Question though...who voted you in? I always thought that a minister or preacher was assigned by the head office, or simply started his or her own church.

In most Baptist churches, the Pastor serves at the request of the congregation.  The congregation calls the Pastor, and if the Pastor agrees, a vote is taken.  Some Baptist churches have a required percentage of positive votes in order to be voted in as Pastor.

Congratulations.

As a fellow Baptist, some advice is to stick to the scripture no matter what.

Political correctness and sugar coating sin seems to be the real popular nowadays. Don't add or take away from the gospel.

Don't do it.

May God guide you.

Thanks!   I'm a conservative Baptist, so i have little tolerance for the condition of which you speak.

Hi, congratulations.  Where did you attend seminary if you don't mind me asking?  The Church that I attend is pastored by a professor at SBTS.

Andersonville Theological Seminary.   It's a small school, but faithful to scripture

Congratulations Brother.

As a Baptist may I recommend to you a book on Baptist history that changed my life, and my convictions on being a Baptist  When I got saved I became a Baptist because it was where I was when I first heard a clear presentation of the Gospel, after reading this book several years later I am now a Baptist by conviction.

America in Crimson Red by Doctor Jame Beller

America in Crimson Red

Pastor Beller has gone on to be with the Lord, but was a great inspiration to me on Baptist History and was also a great man to hear preach.

Eh, that joke fell flat.  Seminary humor.  Crescent Hill and SBTS doesn't have the best relationship any more.

Im a SBTS alum.  Your pastor started teaching after I left but I've heard pretty good things about him.

I googled that church....I was a little concerned...I see why their relationship isn't top notch.  I now get the joke.

Congratulations Paul

I would never presume to tell you how to walk your walk, but having been a part of three church starts one thing i have learned is kindness to one another being stressed is important
if you can't be kind to your brother or sister, you are not welcome here in fact you will be escorted out has been preached a time or two, guard against dissension, be ruthless to stamp it out

"Its His loving kindness that leads us to repentance"
