Thought this might be of interest to some here. New law goes into effect July 20.

Earlier reporting (June 29): Christians in Russia won’t be allowed to email their friends an invitation to church or to evangelize in their own homes if Russia’s newest set of surveillance and anti-terrorism laws are enacted.
The proposed laws, considered the country’s most restrictive measures in post-Soviet history, place broad limitations on missionary work, including preaching, teaching, and engaging in any activity designed to recruit people into a religious group.
To share their faith, citizens must secure a government permit through a registered religious organization, and they cannot evangelize anywhere besides churches and other religious sites. The restrictions even apply to activity in private residences and online.

LDS Missionaries will now be referred to as "Volunteers" in Russia.

Can't even call them missionaries anymore.

Uhhh... I don't think Russia understands that God will not be defeated.  Putin can say what he wants, but when Jesus said "make disciples of all nations"  he didn't exempt Russia. Yes, people who spread the word may now suffer there, but I know how it's gonna end.

The Church has worked to stamp out heresies since the beginning, it is referenced in the New Testament. This is no different.

This is Putin's attempt to exempt everyone but the Russian Orthodox Church.

Evangelicals will evangelize anyway.

Agree on both counts. Will be interesting to see how non-muslim violations of the new law are dealt with.
