Hope this one stays, "Christian" unlike the other one that didn't.
That's why it got locked at the OP's request.
We saw some of them that led to some other stuff too!
Guess you didn't know about it huh?

At what point did any of the early church leaders assimilate to their world to win souls ?

To SAE, 3xpert & 19suburban96,

Really?!! It seems like yall are saying Christian rock isn't Christian at all. Does a Chrisitan artist have to make every song about spreading the Word or the Gospel? No

Christian rock entertains many belivers and brings non-believers into Faith and those who have strayed from Faith, back to believing.

Since its obvious ya'll don't like the music, please stay out of this thread.

You got it brother RumbleTruck!
Sounds and looks like hell bound to me anyway!
I don't believe you though.
Look for the smoke!

Thanks,

SAE

I just went to youtube and explored some of this bands music. As far as I can see the lyrics have nothing to do with Christianity.

You are free to listen to what you want to, but I wouldn't call this Christian music.

Quite honestly I find it somewhat offensive against our Lord to call this music for Him.

I don't have any vids to share, but some of my personal favorite bands right now are:

Impending Doom
Love and Death
August Burns Red
For Today

I grew up around Christian music naysayers, and I somewhat understand where they are coming from, but there are different types of Christian music IMHO. There is specifically praise music that we use to worship the Lord, but then there are many groups using modern styles that have some praise lyrics in addition to lyrics that typically address other issues many of which are relevant to the struggles of a Christian and can be, and often are, used as somewhat of a bridge to non-believers. I have seen "christian" bands completely lose their testimony and direction when going out "on tour", not to mention other highly successful Christian artists that most would not have a problem labeling their lyrics/styles as Christian "come out" and announce their decision to live in continual sin and so on. I have seen many others absolutely thrive and never fail to present the gospel to their audiences consisting of mostly lost people at each and every performance and do far more to reach the lost than most Christians ever have the opportunity to do.

People are human. The problem has always been one where we as the church foster an environment of support for each other's walk rather than condemnation (and the self-serving pride that causes it).

They categorize themselves as "epic rock"; I guess it counts since it technically has a backbeat.

Thread needs :

Thrice - "Beggars" and "Major/Minor" - just awesome, genre defining; post-hardcore meets Floyd and Radiohead possibly? I don't know. Those albums are beautiful, as is "Vheissu".

Extol - all of their albums rock, but the most recent self-titled album is a testament to how Christian metal can not only meet but exceed their secular counterparts

Living Sacrifice - "Reborn" and "The Hammering Process" - awesome metal albums in the vein of Sepultura and Meshuggah and Fear Factory

Ivoryline - emo influenced rock - great melodies and playing

Everything in Slow Motion "Phoenix" and Hands "Give Me Rest" - two albums under two names by one guy; absolutely crushing in every way though it's not necessarily metal
