That's interesting to find out, because society certainly would have you believe that most the smarties are athiests. I've personally known a few athiests that were too smart for their own good.

One of these fellows was the valedictorian at my high school. He graduated with around a 4.4 and gave some depressing atheist speech at graduation about how short life is and how nothing really matters because when we are dead it's over so we might as well have fun. He's got himself convinced that nothing in life matters so he dropped out of college, does hard drugs, and works at McDonalds .

There is nothing wrong with working at McD's if that's what you have, but his life is a waste of opportunity. He could have had a big future but he convinced himself firmly there was nothing worth putting effort into because he thought life was all random chaos that ends with death.

He was such stubborn a logical thinker that he just COULD NOT accept that there is a higher purpose in life that can not be explained by science.

Semi-rant but I thought this related to intelligence and religion.

I already never took the opinions of atheists too seriously or give credit to their thoughts on anything.

Well brutha stanc (hopefully not pronounced like stank), alright, here we go my friend:

The deal is, is that you are an atheist.

Ok?

And as your self-proclaimancy and perplextites has been instituted and or dubiously requires, (Which I'm sure that these are not any kind of legitimate words for now, however as this may be about all of these things, I will use them when addressing you in this post, that being, if you do not mind for now) and stuff?

Alright?

Wait a minute now, what was the question again?

Hello?

Well, I meant it to be spoken as "stan see", but I suppose one could understandably pronounce it as stank. It's my first name and last initial -- Stan C. -- and it's a hard c, spoken like it's a k.
The deal is, is that you are an atheist.

Ok?

Ok. And to give it a somewhat ironic twist, people usually (mis)pronounce my last name as Christ.

Hell if I know. Your run-on sentences tend to be so long that by the time I reach the end, I've forgotten what the beginning was.

High IQ doesn't mean you are the end-all be-all. There are plenty of socialist libturds with very high IQs.

Not meant to be insulting anyway, I'm just saying. High IQ or not, people are still going to have personal beliefs.

I'm pretty sure about this too.

Pervasive general mindsets do usually have quite different outcomes in the way in which people believe though, especially when it comes to the spiritual views that any one person may hold.

Scientific too some say, and then some say not.

btw was going to make some buttermilk Ranch dressing here in a few minutes, but after seeing your avatar, will hold off until that horrid visual has substantially faded from my mind, which is now very troubled, and disturbed, about any white flowing substance right now.

Wow.

No thanks,

I once had a colleague and girlfriend cry in exasperation (after failing to convert me to atheism) "How can you be a Christian? You're too intelligent!"

Prejudism like this is a human trait not specific to atheists, but can be a pretty strong flavor in the evangelical atheist community these days.

Yes.

And as I see it, or at least spiritually perceive it for now, there are certain counterfeits to anything that Christianity might promote pertaining to all persons which is Scriptural; which is ordained by our Father through Jesus Christ; known as the Biblically referenced, "Great Commission of God."

Countermeasures from the kingdom of darkness concerning overturning that.

Warfare.

Good question... In a purely materialistic world there is no logically defensible "higher purpose", merely self satisfaction.

It's simple. The relationship between intelligence and religion is often construed by athiests in such a manner that suggests religious people are too dumb to realize that there is no god. They often claim to be smarter because they have looked at "the facts" and know that there is no god. The point of the OP was to say that many of the highest IQ's (read smartest people) in the world are Christian, meaning that atheists cannot simply claim to be smarter, and therefor garner support for their cause, when some of the smartest people around disagree with them.

Ah. I see. Thanks. I never looked into what atheists have been saying. I've not personally seen any correlation between intelligence and religion. The religious people I have known varied from not very bright, to pretty darned smart.

Now, what is that "higher purpose in life" you mentioned?

It depends what you believe I guess. Maybe for you there is no higher purpose. Nice trolling though.

Sorry, guess it just feels like trolling when you ask what is the higher purpose I speak of in a thread about Christianity. If it was serious than I apologize. Like I said, my higher purpose would be to live a godly life and do right by the lord in the way I live. Yours may very well be different and that's ok.

The perception of atheism as the "smart" man's philosophy is more a reflection of the current academic stranglehold of the left than any true connection between intelligence and atheism.  This is especially true in fields like philosophy or history which are more subjective.

Yes.

I have noticed too. Not too watertight concerning some of their more colorful and painted theories at all as it comes out though, as their standard agenda and premises comes to show some bucklage under a little scrutiny and objectivity. I think at this point that they may be trying just a tad bit too hard concerning the socialistic side of their agendas, in order to kindle the fires of absolute contention, and disbelief, about anything higher than themselves; concerning just about everybody and concerning just about anything else these days.
